10 Days in Sardinia - 100's of Kilometers and hours of driving on some of the craziest roads I've ever encountered. This portion of the trip was not with out its challenges and I'd probably make different choices were I to do it again. Sardinia is a vast island (as far as islands are concerned), and I was fortunate to see much of it during my stay. Truthfully, by this point in the trip, I was feeling a bit guilty, or even embarrassed, to be having such a journey. In Sardinia, I searched for the magic that I found in the Faroes; the peace and stillness that solitude in majestic places can offer to those who venture into the outfield. Instead, I found myself among many other tourists, doing many of the same scripted activities, staying in the same hotels. I started to feel as if I was merely collecting experiences that one "ought" to have while in this specific place. Self-challenge for me comes in many different varieties: to climb the mountain alone when I am nervous, to be still and quiet when I am anxious, or to find the gratitude and appreciation for a given moment when those may not be the feelings most readily apparent. I am grateful for my time time on this island, for the contrast between the two stunningly beautiful places that made up the bulk of my trip, and for the lessons I learned about myself and how I prefer to experience the world when I out and about in its far reaches, which I plan to import with me to places closer to home. So cheers to travel, to being blessed enough to experience the world beyond our immediate doorstep, and all the mess and learnings and insight and growth that comes with these adventures.

Last day in the Faroe Islands. Bøur to Gasaladur and beyond, on the island of Vàgar. While my plan to hike to Slættanes and back didn't pan out, I have nothing but gratitude for the opportunity to accomplish what I did. (I now have item #1 for my return itinerary.) My 10 days in these islands was an epic adventure that lived up to my hopes, which in itself is a magical experience. I'm coming away with a seed of peace planted firmly in my soul, a spark of joy in my spirit, and the sense memory I have of this journey will surely nourish and sustain both. taken in Bøur by @jblanz

The Witches Finger, Slave Cliff, and lake above the ocean... all highlights of Vágar Island, the last stop on my tour of the Faroe Islands. More typical Faroese weather today. If anything, the rain highlights the natural drama of the landscape. This is not a forgiving place, it is raw and exposed. One walks purposefully here, steps planted firmly and carefully, one by one. It is a dynamic place, full of movement and elemental change, yet stillness pervades each vantage point and experience. I am constantly reminded to be here and now, which I think is the magic of this place. taken in Bøsdalafossur by @jblanz
