POSTS STORIES REELS

Welcome to my creator page!

I have always had a knack for comic books and a story teller at heart. I remember sketching out comic strips ever since I was a little kid; creating characters and worlds through panels on a page that others can relate to was always the truest version of who I am. In those formative years, I was excited to share my art, my stories, my magic.

Life had other plans, and somewhere along the way after more than a few disparaging comments of my amateur work and suggestions to pursue a "real career," I left my silly little comics on the wayside and walked more "proper" and "adult" paths. Still, there was a part of me that couldn't let the artist go; the doodles that chaotically litter my college and work notebooks attest to this.

Through many changes and struggles, life slowly faded in its color, its adventure, its magic, and I struggled to find purpose in it all. Though I had supporting friends through those times that helped me greatly, I couldn't shake this feeling that I had something more in my soul to give the world.

A few years ago, I started drawing again, and from that, I created Saving Faith, a story about reclaiming the beauty, purpose, and magic in life through all the darkness and pain that life throws at us. I hope someone can relate to it, and if it brings light to even one person, I will feel like I have done something good in this world.

Is my work for everyone? No, and I don't want it to be. It will connect with whom it needs to connect with. I truly believe that.

Scary as it is, I am ready to be unapologetically creative one more time, and to bring a little color, hope, and magic back to the world. If you should be so inclined to follow me on this journey through this page, it would mean the world to me.

TLDR: The why behind Saving Faith. Also, go listen to @autumn_eve_music

Your life, your pain, your story matters.

One of the themes of Saving Faith is finding purpose and meaning in a past that haunts, and then using that light to guide others through the dark. I believe something truly special happens in those full circle moments.

When I was younger, there were times that I felt completely lost in dark, seemingly hopeless situations; circumstances that I did not choose or cause. One of my reprieves, when I would sit in my room as the weight of it all washed over me, was music. There were many artists in those days that I kept coming back to, like a trusted friend that would listen to me as I listened to them.

One of them was @flyleafmusic ; I was especially moved by the passionate voice, and story, of front woman Lacey Sturm, and through it often found the courage to go on. She was (and continues to be) someone I truly looked up to.

Recently, I had the opportunity to do a meet and greet with Flyleaf. Though our encounter was very brief, I got to thank them for their work, they thanked me for supporting them, and I gifted them some exclusive posters from Saving Faith. It really met something to me though; that these posters with these characters would not exist were it not for them.

Additionally, I have also had the opportunity to meet others who have now taken up the torch of sharing hope for the benefit of those who will come after us. One such artist that I’ve had the privilege of encountering was Autumn Eve, that I recently met at the Breaking Darkness music fest. Her passion, heart, and relentless message that faith, life, and mental health are still worth it blazed through every song. If you haven’t yet, go listen to and support her music; I’ve been rocking out to her music since the concert.

There is a full circle moment; meeting those who ran before, guiding us towards the light, and meeting those who are now carrying that same mission.

If Saving Faith can be a part of that story, it will have all been worth it. by @jbmanzcomics

Panel from the current page I'm working on. I hope you like it because this page will be the death of me 💀.

Author's notes: Caesar Remington.

Caesar is a long time concept that I've recycled from previous draft ideas, and is a character that I've struggled the most to find a compelling identity for. I wanted him to be more than just the "little brother sidekick," and to rather really have his own driving motivations and identity.

Ultimately, I think what I landed on is a pretty strong foil to Faith, as well as Caesar's brother, Lazarus. While Faith and Lazarus have strong, passionate emotions and expressions, Caesar is practical, calculating, and rarely shows his cards. On the one hand, he is a brilliant genius (alchemy is the perfect magic form for him), on the other, he can be very cold and calloused, using intelligence as an excuse to build walls to prevent getting hurt again.

And they need each other: Caesar needs Faith and Lazarus so as to remain human and not become a robot. Faith and Lazarus need Caesar so that they don't burn down the kitchen when making a bowl of cereal 🥣.

Down for the count?
Reorient.
Realign.
Re-engage.

Or just be a super powerful sorcerer like Dost 🧙.

Panel from the page of volume 1 that I'm currently working on. Colors look great on this one.

Seize Monday.
Head up, warrior.
There is still cause for hope.
There is still need for your light.
This darkness, too, shall pass.
Cast your spell and song in defiance.
Seize Monday.

Flying through Friday and into the weekend like...

Faith and Pandora are really starting to hit their stride in the pages I've been working on, and it's just been one fun artistic experiment after another to find how to really sell the scenes.

Also, some announcements for volume one are coming soon 👀.

Really took my time with this showcase of the girls, and I'm very pleased with the result. That being said, I need to rededicate some time to the actual comic book again, so the next few posts will probably end up being BTS of pages I'm currently working on.

Lazarus and Caesar; the last known members of the esteemed Remington household, the brothers carry paranormal expertise, knowledge, and traditions passed down for generations dating back to days of ancient history. Driven by a desire to rebuild what was taken from them, they are the living embodiment of the House Remington mantra "Wisdom in thought. Fury in Action."

On today's Halloween episode, Pandora is trying to get the drop on Faith...and doing a very poor job. She's already a spirit, so I don't know why she's bothering with the sheet 🤷.

Guising is an ancient Celtic practice rooted in the festival of Samhain, where people wore ghoulish masks and disguises to keep hidden from wandering spirits. In these costumes, children would perform a song or dance and receive a small reward for their efforts, which contributed to our modern use of costumes and the practice of trick-or-treating.

Things may not always be as they appear...give something you've taken for granted a second look today; you never know what you might find right under your nose 👻.
