My good childhood friend Flex was born 2 days after me, we lived down the street from each other and did everything together. He was senselessly murdered and never made it out of his 20s.

I especially think of him around our birthdays & can hear him cheering me on from heaven with his huge grin telling me to LIVE!

Blessed and grateful for all my family & friends who are still here & take none of you for granted for that exact reason.

Here’s to another year of good friends, great times & incredible VIBES! 🙏🏾 taken in 𝓗𝓮𝓪𝓿𝓮𝓷. by @jbrownthe1st

There needs to be more cultural context in the world of fine art. A few years back, my brothers @dizgibraltar, @chace_infinite and I started @contextprojects - a creative consortium with the mission to provide that context while empowering artists of color through collaboration. Further elevating the Context Projects team is museum professional Larry Earl and multi-disciplined designer Jamie Benson. With our varied backgrounds in arts, design culture, and business, we serve as a bridge and incubator for artists across visual art, media, product, and commerce, previously, having collaborated with @UtaArtistSpace, @MarianeIbrahimGallery, @UnionLosAngeles, @Netflix and more.

Today, we proudly announce the launch of our fine arts space in partnership with @slausonandco in the historically black neighborhood of View Park/Windsor Hills - opening October 14th, 2023, with our inaugural exhibition, "Also Known As SlauCienega" featuring the photography of Damien Carter (@slaucienega). Curated by Khalil Kinsey and Larry Earl, the exhibition will mark Carter's solo debut.

We were compelled to create a space that supports rising artists while providing our community with access and education to the world of fine art and the significance of Black contribution. View Park-Windsor Hills holds great importance in the history of Los Angeles and the Black community, and we are honored to continue that legacy.

Join us in supporting Black art & culture @ContextProjects. Link in bio for more information.

It’s a privelage to represent the incredible work of the @ntwrk team and our community of world class creators. Thank you to @forbes for recognizing our dedication and daily grind.

I view this as a reminder to focus further on paying it forward, creating opportunities for those who otherwise wouldn’t receive and contributing to culture in a meaningful way. Beyond appreciative. 🙏🏾✊🏾 by @jbrownthe1st

Our mission has always been to platform exceptional Black artists. Women have been among our most committed supporters since day one, which makes this first one especially meaningful: an exhibition led entirely by women.

Context Projects, in collaboration with @dcdg.co is proud to announce ‘The Color of Care’ - a solo presentation of works by Dame Moore (@damemooreart) - curated by Delaney George. On view October 16th through December 18th, 2026.

Curated by Delaney George (@delannii), ‘The Color of Care’ challenges the assumption that strength and softness exist in opposition. Through bold planes of color and delicate mark making, Moore’s work insists that tenderness is not the absence of strength, but one of its most profound expressions.

In her practice, Dame Moore moves between observation and imagination, creating figures that function less as representations of specific individuals but rather as embodiments of emotional truths. In this collection of work lies reflection and offering, an exploration of care as both a personal and collective force; centering the emotional architectures that sustain us: family, community, tenderness, spirituality, and self possession.

Opening Reception:
Friday, October 16th, 6-9pm
Dame Moore: The Color of Care
October 16 - December 18, 2026

Featured artwork:
Dame Moore, ‘Giving Flowers’ 2023, acrylic, oil, spray paint, on canvas, 68 x 60

Thank you to my family & friends for the calls + texts for my bday; more than that, I’d like to thank you not only for being an inspiration to me, but for making me who I am.

By far, without question, my biggest blessing is that of my community, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My only ask would be that we try to continue inspiring each other, and realize how the smallest gesture can change the trajectory of someone's day, or life for that matter.

Be defiant in your joy if necc, experience & cherish life! by @jbrownthe1st

Honored and incredibly proud to witness my brothers, Coodie & Chike, for the LA premiere of their masterful work on the Ernie Barnes documentary. They didn’t just tell a story; they brought to life one of the most vital narratives in not only Black art history, but global art history.

Ernie Barnes was a true legend whose vision transcended canvases. I’m beyond excited for the world to finally witness the “Ernie Barnes experience.” I was personally overwhelmed by how much I didn’t know about not only such a genius artist, but human. It’s more than a film; it’s a cultural moment.

Thank you both for your dedication bringing this to life! 🤝🏾🏆 taken in Harmony Gold Theater by @jbrownthe1st

Lauren…..Sister, please…KEEP dreaming…

You could have easily let the patrons of the most prestigious institutions witness your greatness, instead you chose the path less taken to allow your community to dream with you. Thank you! @summaeverythang

Imagine if young Emmett Till was able to exact revenge on Roy Bryant & JW Milam for abducting, torturing, murdering & disfiguring him before sending him back to his mother?

The idea of that concept is why “The Revenge of Emmett Till” by my guy @hebrubrantley is my favorite piece of our latest exhibition “Listen to me now, believe me later on” @contextprojects

From a creative standpoint, the piece showcases the artist’s not as often seen painting skills, but more importantly storytelling chops, weaving history and blaxploitation references to create something transformative.

When I hear Emmett, Mike Brown, Trayvon, Breonna, etc I immediately think “victim”. This piece flips the thought, reimagining Emmett not as a tragedy we mourn, but as a hero who fights back. It’s speculative justice, a visual “what if” that refuses to let these names remain defined solely by their murderers.

I won’t pretend it’s a peaceful thought, but I’d be lying if I said the concept doesn’t bring me more than a tad bit of satisfaction. There’s power in seeing ourselves as more than what was done to us.
