#YAHWEHYIREH I am incredibly blessed and proud to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Texas Lutheran University! Playing college football has been a goal of mine since I was 8 years old. The second I touched a field, I knew that this game is exactly where God placed me. I remember 5 years ago, driving around the TLU campus before one of Abby’s plays and thinking, “wow, I hope they have a football team here, I’d love to play here” This opportunity is one of the biggest blessings of my entire life, and I have had quite a few. All the glory and praise be to Jesus Christ, who brought me to this point, and he will continue to bring me to wherever He needs me. He defeated the grave so that I could live. Thank you to my parents and my sister who regardless of injury, argument, or heartbreak, have never wavered. Thank you to my friends, teammates, and coaches who supported me through the thick and thin of this journey. And finally, to Coach Lahue, Gus, Grech, and the rest of the TLU staff for the opportunity to play for your program. I promise it’s a decision y’all will not regret. This journey has been difficult and confusing, but also, prosperous beyond measure. And I promise you, this is only the beginning.

2 Timothy 4:7

I cannot even begin to describe the honor it has been to play for the Canyon Cougars. As I close this chapter in my life, I keep remembering how excited I always was to play under those lights. From CFPO, walking on the grass field behind the stadium and thinking, “That’s gonna be me one day,” to walking into the middle school in 7th grade and screaming in joy because I made the A team—I was right. It was me one day. And now, somehow, that day has passed.
This program has taught me how to be a good man, how to overcome unbelievable adversity, and how to live out my faith in everything I do. Thank you to the coaches who challenged me, believed in me, and gave me amazing opportunities.
Though this season and chapter ended in a frustrating fashion, it is impossible to look back on my time here with anything less than gratitude. I am incredibly blessed to continue playing this game.
To my senior teammates, thank you all for the last four years. I will always be one call away. To the underclassmen, thank y’all for trusting me as a teammate and leader. I love y’all forever.

I love you, Canyon. All praise and glory be to Christ Jesus, the almighty Lord. by @jbwood_7
