Good luck trying to find me here 🤣 I promise I'm in this vid! Just all the way at the back lol

When Tahiti Calls is the closing dance for my Hālau's performances. After 8 months of training and preparing for my first Ho'ike, it was an honour to perform this dance with everyone from my Halau! It was also a very fun dance for me to learn 😆 by @jc.movs

Anahola is the third Hula dance that I've learned, and so far it's been the most challenging one for me to try to learn and remember... definitely much faster paced than the others that I've learned so far 😅 But it's still a very good practice for me!

Looking back at the footage, this faster pace really exposes how sloppy I can get in terms of my technique 😅 Gonna have to really clean things up and be more mindful of my form during my next performances. by @jc.movs

Ku'u Hoa is the second dance that I've learned during this first year of doing Hula. This was such a fun piece to learn! Definitely one of my favourites to perform so far~ As with the meaning of this song, it really makes you want to join in on the dance 😊

It did challenge me though, as I really do need to be visibly more expressive in order to convey the happy vibes that this song is calling for! Still need to work on that... by @jc.movs

Kakuhihewa is one of the first dances that I've learned during this first year of my Hula journey. It was really interesting for me to learn about the history of Kakuhihewa during his reign as the chief of O'ahu, as well how this song has a romantic undertone hidden behind these lyrics~

As this is my first year of doing Hula, I still have so much more to learn in terms of knowledge, and I also need to polish up on my foundational skills for this art form. Since being a part of this Hālau also gives me my first opportunities to perform live on stage, I'm learning the hard way that I really need to improve in terms of stage presence and being more expressive as I perform, so that I can showcase the right kind of emotions and moods that these dances want to convey. by @jc.movs
