I am honored to be awarded as part of the 2025 Sacramento Business Journal’s Power 100 for Real Estate and Development, a distinguished list of leaders in our region.

As the Sacramento Business Journal noted, “Jonathan Cook leads the biggest local advocacy group for affordable housing, where he’s been in the top role since 2023. As local budgets tighten, expect him to play a leading role in lobbying for money build affordable housing and keep people in their homes, as well as support specific projects against occasional not-in-my-backyard opposition. Among his person points of pride, he lists pushing to eliminate single-family zoning in the city of Sacramento.”

This success wouldn’t be possible without the support of my board, staff, and members of the Sacramento Housing Alliance.

Together we are advancing affordable housing in the Greater Sacramento Region and across California.

Miles crossed the rainbow bridge this afternoon. He was my best friend and loyal companion for over 10 years. Cook’s Miles of Redwood Runs 08/01/2013-03/29/2023.

I haven’t loved a dog as deeply as I did Miles. We had a special bond. I’m glad we went on so many adventures together, and that I got to spend so much quality time with him. Dogs teach us so many lessons: to not take life too seriously, how to have fun, loyalty, companionship, and unconditional love. Ultimately he gave all of the love he had in his heart.

I love you, Miles. I’ll be looking for you on the other side of that rainbow bridge when I get to hug you again. 🌈🐾💔💜

It was inspiring to witness President Biden sign the #RespectForMarriageAct at the White House. It is a historic moment for the LGBTQ community on our journey toward full equality.

I first began my community advocacy in 2008 after Prop 8 passed in California. This June I married my husband in San Francisco. This moment was personal for me. Yesterday was the culmination of years of hard work organizing, tears at set backs, and a stubborn determination to never stop fighting for full equality.

While we still need to pass the Equality Act, yesterday was a reason to celebrate. It was an honor to celebrate this victory at the White House at the invitation of the President with so many colleagues and friends from across the country. taken in The White Hοuse by @jc88keys

This morning I had the opportunity to present at the CA Medical Board meeting in Los Angeles on behalf of Solano Pride Center with Dr. Aguilar-Gaxiola from the UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities, entitled, “Overcoming Health Inequities in LGBTQ Communities: Implications for CME.”

This was an interdisciplinary project between 2016-2021 in Solano County to reduce stigma in seeking mental health services, increasing access, & decreasing cost from crisis care.
The three identified groups were LGBTQ people, Filipinos, and Latinos in Solano County.

This was made possible by MHSA Innovation funding, in partnership with with UC Davis Health, Solano Behavioral Health, Solano Pride Center, Fighting Back Partnership, and Rio Vista Care.
