A Tyrolean traverse is a method of crossing through free space between two high points on a rope without a hanging cart or cart equivalent. This is used in a range of mountaineering activities: rock climbing, technical tree climbing, caving, water crossings and mountain rescue.

Blue-tailed Bee-eater
Visayas State University
Resident | 10-15-26

Best time to look for birds is in the early morning and after the rain or a drizzle. They actively hunt for food, call, preen, or may stay on their perch for a while. Exception are the nocturnal ones.

Holy
Let nature be your church.
Let the trees be your temple.
Let each nourishing breath be your sacred vow.
Let the shared spark of life be your holy order and, if there is one prayer you can whisper into the ear of the world, let it be "Thank you." 🙂💚 taken in Biome by @jc_gumba

In celebration of today’s International Day for Disaster Reduction and the month-long theme of #UrbanOctober, let’s look at the importance of native trees that can withstand typhoons, which frequent the Philippines during the rainy season.

Typhoon-resilient trees don’t only serve as oxygen engines, windbreakers, fog catchers, erosion shields, water keepers but are also home for our native birds and local wildlife. taken in Philippines by @jc_gumba

Snakes aren’t the enemy! 85% of snakes are harmless, and all of them help control rodents and keep ecosystems balanced. You don’t have to love them, but you should respect them 🐍

Yes sir, snake that eats snails and slugs? Yep, this is 𝘈𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘢 (blunt-headed slug snake), one of my favorite snakes to observe. This species is arboreal and nocturnal, and it mainly feeds on slugs and snails. What makes it even more fascinating is how it eats, it uses a unique “sawing” motion with its mandibles to carefully remove snails from their shells. When threatened, it relies on camouflage. Instead of striking or fleeing, it stays completely motionless, mimicking a branch or twig.
