This Friday @ryanhastingsgallery, opening reception for “It’s Time!” Julian Caridi ( @jcaridi ) will be showing a few unique pieces of work!
———
Julian Caridi (b. Barranquilla, Colombia) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His paintings are built through layers of mixed media: oil, acrylic, spray paint, pastel, oil stick, charcoal, and white-out, each material contributing a different rhythm, texture, or interruption to the surface. The works navigate a space between drawing and painting, where color and line remain in constant negotiation. At the core of his practice is a deep engagement with memory and the non-linear nature of time. Marks made in the present coexist with traces of the past and gestures toward the future. Certain forms such as hearts, circles, and flowers recur across his work, not as fixed symbols but as mutable containers for evolving meaning. These elements shift and resurface, reframed by each new composition. Titles are integral to his process, acting as keys or quiet provocations. Through the interplay of material, form, and language, Caridi opens up a space for introspection, inviting viewers to locate their own experience within the work, even if only for a moment.
