One year ago today, Bruiser Hill passed. He was an old guy, but it was still unexpected. There aren’t enough pictures or stories that could properly depict how important he was. Bruiser was in my life for seven of the eight years I lived in New York. He was King of the House. He was Lady’s big brother (begrudgingly). He was fiercely loving & protective…he could also be hilariously dismissive and lazy. Even though it’s been a year of grieving (of more than his passing alone iykyk) my heart still aches for the good and annoying times. I miss his warm cuddles, and his growling if I dared to move a muscle in bed. His excited “Circus Dog” jumps despite bad hips. Him being perched at the window, pondering life and spying on neighbors. His attempts to eat Lady’s food every second you turned around. When he, annually, decided he was over his Farmer’s Dog protein base and we’d have to change the food order. His whining and refusal to move from his dad’s suitcase when he’d be packing for a trip. His attempts to play with toys even after having teeth extracted. His insistence to sit next to (or preferably on) the desk when his dad was working from home. The loud yelps when he would get scared by…well, usually himself. Or nothing at all. When he would bury his head into you because he could tell something was wrong. I miss his excitement for the inflatable neck cone, something I still don’t entirely understand. Most of all, I miss his tongue - his kisses were always aggressive in nature, but he became cartoonishly adorable post-extractions when he couldn’t hold it in anymore.He was such a good, brave, stubborn, funny, loving little guy. I think about him all the time. He had his fair share of health issues over the years, but we gave him a great life, and he made sure we were safe & loved in return. Big hugs to friends like @matthewplotner, @juperrot, @angela4626, @lau.rellaa, @racheyray91 and anyone who ever played with or watched my Baby Bruiser Bubbah Boy. Lastly, my sincerest and deepest thanks to @lshill80 for bringing Bruiser into my life. He was so lucky to be your son, and I will always be grateful to have been his Step Daddy. 💜🐶 by @jchazk
