🦊 OLD IDEAS, NEW BEGINNINGS…

Living in an old beamed cottage in a growing village near the border of Norfolk and Suffolk, it sometimes feels as though every little corner holds a story—or, in my case, an unfinished painting waiting to be rediscovered!

While searching for new ideas, I came across these two older fox pieces. Like many artists, I always seem to have several unfinished paintings tucked away. Rather than seeing them as forgotten work, I’ve realised how helpful they can be—especially when I’m looking for inspiration or preparing something new for the Kindred Spirits Art Community.

Returning to an older painting with fresh eyes allows me to notice what it needs. Sometimes it’s only a few finishing touches; at other times, it asks to be taken in a completely new direction.

The fox on the triangular canvas is now receiving those final touches, along with a few corrections to its proportions. The mounted little red fox is a soft-pastel piece, and I’m also making several alterations to bring it back to life.

There is something rather lovely about rediscovering an unfinished piece. It reminds me that creativity doesn’t always happen in a straight line. Some paintings simply need to rest quietly until we are ready to meet them again.

What if a painting could speak to you before you even understood why?

We’re delighted to welcome Australian artist Popi Iatrou to our Kindred Spirits Art Community.

Popi paints intuitively, allowing colour, texture, symbols and stories to emerge — and sometimes the meaning reveals itself only much later.

Her word for 2026 is MAGIC ✨ and I think that tells you something rather lovely about the way she approaches both her art and life.

🦌✨ “Awaiting Dawn” — finished at last ✨🦌

As this little fawn rests beneath the stars, she waits in relative safety for the return of her mother.
She may appear to be alone, but love and protection are never far away.

While I painted her, I realised how closely her story reflects this precious moment in my own life.
My family and I are waiting for the arrival of my first grandchild. Every hour,
we anticipate the phone call that will fill our hearts with overwhelming joy—the news that a tiny new soul has arrived safely into my daughter’s arms.

Watching my daughter prepare to become a mother has filled me with more pride than I can express. I truly am the proudest Mum—and soon-to-be Grandma.

Waiting is something we all experience. Sometimes we wait for wonderful news; at other times, we wait anxiously for answers we are frightened to receive.

Whatever arrives, please remember that you do not have to face it alone.
Family, friends and even unexpected acquaintances may be ready to stand beside you.
We simply need to find the courage to reach out and let them know we need support.

Just like this little fawn, you may feel alone in the darkness—but love could be much closer than you realise, waiting to guide you towards the dawn. 💖

🐺🍂 TWO ORIGINAL PAINTINGS—BUT WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE? 🍂🦌

I have been working on this gorgeous wolf for the past few days, painting whenever my health has allowed. Slowly, layer by layer, this beautiful face has come to life—and I’m so pleased to finally share it with you.

💙 Waiting for a new little chapter to begin… 💙

My first grandchild—our precious little grandson—is due to arrive any day now, and the excitement of waiting to meet him is almost impossible to put into words.

Looking through these old photographs has taken me on such a beautiful journey.
It feels like only yesterday that I was holding my daughter when she was barely a day old.
Then came all those wonderful years of watching both my children grow, laugh, play and become the remarkable people they are today.

We didn’t have a perfect life—no family does—but we had a life filled with love, laughter,
adventures and memories that I will treasure forever. I am so proud of the kind and caring adults my children have become.

Now, as I prepare to become a Grandma, I must admit that alongside all the happiness, I have some apprehension too.
Because of the nerve damage in my hands, I can unexpectedly drop things.
A little fear sometimes creeps in and asks, “Will I be able to hold him safely?”

But my faith speaks more loudly than my fear.

I trust that when my grandson is finally placed in my arms, God will steady my hands and strengthen my limbs.
Those arms have carried and comforted my own babies—and I believe they will know exactly what to do when they hold this precious new life for the first time.

Soon I will watch my daughter begin her own journey into motherhood, and another beautiful chapter of our family story will begin.

Today, my heart is overflowing with happiness, gratitude and love.
We are waiting for you, little one. Grandma already loves you more than you could ever know. 💙🙏

🍂 ENCHANTED AUTUMN 🍂

Our second online art auction is coming this October!

Autumn is one of my favourite seasons. I love watching the trees and hedgerows come alive with bright oranges, warm sienna, rich ochres and beautiful olive greens as nature prepares for the winter months. These wonderful colours always inspire my creativity.

A little invitation from me 🎨

The past six months have brought quite a few health challenges and some unexpected expenses. Through it all, I’m still here, still smiling, and painting whenever I can. 💙

You’ve been so kind and supportive of both me and my art. I’d love to give my paintings the chance to find new homes, while raising some funds to help me through this time.

I’m sharing a first selection of original paintings in the photos below. Offers start at **£280 for no: 6 largest of these paintings the 30 × 24 inch. The rest start at £180 for the 24 × 18 inch paintings. These starting prices are more than 50% below my usual prices.

The paintings are in perfect condition and are painted in oil over mixed media.

A little invitation from me 🎨

The past six months have been difficult for my health. I’ve had a colonoscopy, 30 Botox injections into my bladder to help with the pain, and two large back teeth removed at the hospital. I’ve also had a spinal MRI to check whether my transverse myelitis is affecting my spinal cord again. For two months I’ve been living with burning mouth symptoms, and my left side has been numb and extremely painful.

There’s more to come. I’m waiting to have another tooth removed, as my medication has been damaging my teeth from the roots upwards. I need new knees, and I’m waiting for a liver biopsy after something concerning showed up.

That is a lot of things going wrong. But I’m still here, I’m still smiling, and when I can, I’m still painting. 💙

You’ve all been so supportive of both my health and my art, and I’d love to give something back: the chance to own an original painting of mine to hang in your lovely home.
