The Gentleman’s GT3 | 991.2 GT3 Touring

A huge thank you to @jcrable911 for trusting me with his 991.2 GT3 Touring for the past week. The opportunity to spend time behind the wheel of such a special car isn’t lost on me, and I genuinely appreciate the trust and generosity.

Part of the experience was getting to see how the Touring compares to my 997.2 GT3. Interestingly enough, these were the exact two cars I was cross-shopping when I started my search a year ago.

While my seat time in the Touring was limited, a few initial impressions stood out. The 991.2 is arguably the better all-around street car. It offers the refinement and comfort of a modern 911 when you want it, but with the push of a few buttons, it transforms into a seriously capable, track-ready machine.

The 997.2 GT3, on the other hand, feels like it’s always in track mode. The clutch is incredibly heavy, the driving experience is raw, and it demands your full attention at all times. There’s something special about that level of engagement, even if it isn’t always the most comfortable experience.

Neither approach is necessarily better, just different. Both cars are incredible in their own right, and spending time with the 991 Touring only reinforced how good each generation is.

I’d love to have one of each in the garage someday (maybe take a page out of @collectorfred_ ‘s book). Until then, I’m grateful for the opportunity to experience both.
