This morning I started writing about 10 years in this house and how it changed me. What these years have seen. What I’m holding onto most is my memories of all the people who showed up to paint, put furniture together, hang out with me, stay with me, tuck their babies in beds upstairs, let their dogs run around the yard, fuss over repairs and colors and fixtures with me. I started posting these little vids on TikTok. Not to sugar coat or displace this constantly unfolding, daily bullshittery but because I, me, myself, I actively need to hold two truths at the same time - that humans are garbage and humans are also surprising and wonderful. I *will not* survive the daily news without this exercise, I’ll just sort of crumple into a pile of ash. And ash isn’t gonna call my reps, y’all! I’m just sharing it here bc the universe gifted me this factoid yesterday and I am still clutching it with two hands like Rose on that goddamn door. The world is horrible and also wild. If you have body issues, just do Ancestry, visit the village and be confronted with a fleet of women who are shaped like you- usually for a reason. In my case, I’m pretty sure I’m built to haul heavy fish onto a dock 7 days a week in my bare feet. by @jcutrone_author
