How about that blueberry beer eh! The PBC boys have made a nice primer for the upcoming berry season. They are truly working magic over there. And here @haresfarm we’re about to pull some new treasure in from the field. I’m looking forward to catching up with you all at the markets, starting next weekend. And as always, email haresfarm1993@gmail.
com to arrange your bulk orders.
I’m somewhat of a connoisseur and this is the best berry sour I’ve ever had. No joke.

#kyrgyzstan2003 I didn’t even get through half of the trip! But hard work on #haresfarm has killed my stoke for gram posting ski shots for now. I think I’ll resume this journey when the snow flies again. @trilogylandscapes Smith showing some style, looking for kicks in Naryn. 📷 @iljaherb by @jd_hare

So there we were in Karakol... one of the hints we got from our #lonelyplanet Central Asia edition was to stay at this particular inn. It was a very large, lovely old manor, with almost no remaining furniture and absolutely no heat on. And, because it was winter apparently, there were no other guests. The Inn was owned by wicked-old-step-father type character named Valentine. His staff consisted of two unfortunate teenage boys. I remember being served brook trout and Baltika for dinner, and my bedroom being enormous. #kyrgyzstan2003

Karakol looked distinctly more Muslim than Bishkek #kyrgyzstan2003

#kyrgyzstan2003 The Kyrgyz people had an interesting look. They were Asian, but had a Northern facial structure, like Mongolians, almost Inuit. And they were generally quite large. Lots of men over 6 ft. This was obviously a posed portrait, but many times on this trip I saw Ilja the fox hiding his Hasselblad on his chest, with his black coat unzipped just below the lens, subtlety tapping the shutter as if he was going to scratch his ear. 📷 @iljaherb by @jd_hare

#kyrgyzstan2003 Back to Bishkek to regroup. Now that we had established that helicopters were actually expensive, and there was basically no snowpack in the mountains anyway, what to do? The next obvious move was to head further into the Tian Shan mountains, toward the true high Himalaya. So we caught a random mini-bus to the country’s second city, Karakol. 📷 @iljaherb by @jd_hare
