If only RHWs knew that keeping up and exceeding the Joneses could NEVER bring real joy like having more plants does. 😢 by @jdcbl

Warren Buffett on the first speech he and his wife Susie personally saw Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King deliver:

“…Truth, forever on the scaffold, wrong forever on the throne, but that scaffold sways the future….[Dr. King] was going to be dead in six months from the day I heard him speak, but that scaffold DID say the future.”

‘Truth forever on the scaffold…’ comes from the poem, ‘The Present Crisis’ by James Russell Lowell (1844)

Truth forever on the scaffold means that truth and justice often seem under attack, persecuted, or in a position of weakness. The scaffold refers to the platform used for executions, symbolizing suffering or punishment.

Meanwhile, “wrong forever on the THRONE”, suggests that injustice, corruption and oppression often are inextricably linked to those in power who rule over society as if they are invulnerable, impervious and permanent.

The silver lining that Rev. Dr. King Jr. offers us to hold on to is HOPE - and perseverance. The lines that followed in his speech affirm that despite appearances, God (or I’d venture to suggest, whatever you perceive to be the undying Creator/ix of everything) is ultimately in control and justice will prevail in the long run so long as the Light of Truth continues to burn in the hearts of Its people on Earth.

It’s said that Dr. King used this quote to emphasize that while the Civil Rights Movement faced tremendous opposition, truth and justice would ultimately triumph.

Dr. Kings time speaking to his fellow Americans was incredibly brief but America would not have seen the light of change without him; in life, as in death, his incredible spirit, rarely seen before or after, has created waves that will continue to ripple into future generations.

The current ‘throne’, and the unconstitutional, unelected other throne is again threatening a whole America. Today and tomorrow we must hold fast to our beliefs that all people are created equal, that no one is above another, that we are all facets of the same One, and allow our understanding and faith in the good, and in justice to prevail.

I’d like to add the words of Marcus Aurelius to this, “Perform every act of your life as if it was your last.”

Don’t give up when you stumble, though! Just remind yourself that you are a work in progress, just continue to strive towards that healthy, strong and loving person that you envision yourself to be!! ☮️ ❤️ 🌈 by @jdcbl
