I’m thrilled to be releasing original music again! I am unbelievably lucky to get to work with this team of people. I sincerely hope you enjoy “Gaijin.” It’s available anywhere you listen to music (but Bandcamp is the most artist friendly 😉) Also, tune into the release concert TONIGHT at 7pm EST at @cityofasylumpittsburgh . Livestream tickets are free, link in bio. Thank you! by @jdchaisson

On Sunday, August 10th, groove into the afternoon with Check Your Bucket at the Original Pittsburgh Winery. Known for their mindfully arranged instrumental takes on rare funk and soul cuts, this group brings vintage sounds to life with fresh energy and deep musical connection.

With a setlist that digs into overlooked gems and deep grooves, Check Your Bucket explores the soulful edges of funk, rhythm & blues, and classic American music. Their interpretations breathe new life into under-the-radar tracks, balancing reverence for the originals with inventive arrangements and sharp musicianship.

The band’s sound is tight and unforced—built on attentive listening, strong feel, and a clear sense of purpose. Each performance is shaped by the moment, but always anchored by deep grooves and thoughtful playing. It’s music that doesn’t rush, doesn’t show off—just locks in and moves. taken in Pittsburgh Winery by @jdchaisson
