Something salvaged, something sealed.

While gutting an old kitchen I kept the flooring offcuts and demolition scraps most would’ve swept into a bin. Here they surface again — brass rosette, watch dial, a spine of aged wood — locked under a pour of resin like a specimen pulled from another century.

A relic assembled from what a room left behind.

When you stop fighting what is, you begin to flow with life and in that flow, you discover your strength. Thanks @jlj.photo for the great candid. by @jdhowell

Anything surfaces from the dark — antennae, spiral, the slow bloom of what was buried. A piece I’ve had on the back burner for the last three years. Shout out to @smokestack.studio for the perfect mounting and @rachelkienitz for the inspiration in collage and life in general❤️

24x36, oil and collage on vellum.

My watch obsession has influenced my art making lately. What started as a new series of relics, made from old brass, has turned into a series of wearable brooches now available to purchase on my site listed above in my bio. #broochtrend

Two separate collage encased in resin. These were the first, teaching me so much about resin mix ratios and dry time. They refused to harden and thus I resorted to scraping off the half-dried mix and redoing. They both measure approx 12”w x 20”h by @jdhowell
