Strength is only valuable if you can express it.

Building maximal lower-body strength creates the potential to produce greater force, but sport performance depends on how efficiently that force is transferred into the ground. Research consistently shows that maximal strength is strongly associated with improvements in sprint speed, jump performance, and change-of-direction ability when combined with explosive, sport-specific training.

In the weight room, we coach athletes to establish a stable tripod foot—maintaining contact through the heel, first metatarsal (base of the big toe), and fifth metatarsal—to create a strong, balanced foundation for force production.

On the field, however, force is ultimately expressed through the forefoot and hallux (big toe) during acceleration, sprinting, jumping, and cutting.

The goal isn’t to lift on your heels or stay on your toes.

The goal is to:
✅ Build strength from a stable foundation.
✅ Develop the capacity to produce more force.
✅ Train your body to rapidly express that force during athletic movement.

The weight room builds the engine.

Speed, plyometrics, and sport-specific movement teach the body how to use it.

That’s where strength becomes performance.
