Honored to speak at UNITED weekend. @benttreebible is a special place to me. This is the church God used in massive ways for my life and salvation. It feels surreal to be speaking in the church that was so massive in my past. God turned my past into a testimony for His glory and I’m always excited to share what He’s taught me in hopes to help other people.

Praying for the youth of @bt_hsm — That God would continue to work in their lives and they would remember Jesus is enough.

Experiences over gifts.

Something I’ve noticed is that I don’t remember the gifts I’ve gotten over the years. Sure I remember a few, a huffy bike I really wanted, a new gaming console, and whatever new video game was coming out that all my friend wanted. Above the gifts, I remember the experiences even more, California, Florida, New Jersey, Oregon - family and friends and the memories made at each place; core memories they call them. Now Lindsay and I have the opportunity to help create core memories for our kids.

As a family we decided experiences > gifts. This is for us and our kids, because we enjoy being with them and watching them experience just as much as them getting the experience (we might like watching them more than they like doing the activity 😂).

For that reason we don’t do a lot of gifts on Christmas, and Santa doesn’t bring “the big stuff.” Not that any of that is inherently wrong at all, we’ve just decided to make Christmas more about our faith, our family and the experiences we get to go on that year.

Operation, “make those memories.”

We’ve got 13 Christmas’s left before my son’s 18, and 16 before my daughter’s 18. We don’t want to waste a second.
