From paying homage to my own heritage, wearing my mum’s old qipao and clothes, filming at my parents’ work just before they retired and sold the place, using a song i grew up hearing, speaking canto on camera, to creating with insanely talented friends who nailed their roles and made the night so much fun and way too long u goofs this project began with the idea of exploring my relationship with the chinese culture i was born from but didn’t necessarily understand/agree with, and my family who tried their best to raise me with love without knowing how to communicate it. i wanted to focus on the warmth that exists alongside the barriers, in the silent sacrifices and actions, the seemingly cold distance and expressionless devotion; a love that can be tense but ultimately and unconditionally still there by @jdtheunguided
