Been quite a while since I’ve posted. Retired, moved to Florida and have been updating a house and working on my fitting. This is my own drafted top, v neck, princess seams, facing, cuffed sleeves. It may not look that exciting but it’s the first top I’ve made that actually fits everywhere. I feel like I’ve finally turned a corner in my fitting/drafting process. by @jecollins77

My new quilt coat from a cutter quilt. Still need to add pockets but I’m very happy with the fit. This took awhile and was my test before the one I plan to make from scratch. All seams are enclosed and hand sewn with an appliqué stitch. Once the seams are sewn you have 6 layers of bulk. I trimmed all the batting back to the seam line and all but one layer back to 1/4 inch. The remaining layer is 1 inch wide which I then folded over the raw seams and appliqué stitch. Test blocks for my quilt coat. My goal is to use up charms I have with a little extra. The left block will be for the front ( whites) , middle is for the back (aqua) and right block will be for the sleeves (blue). #sewingover50 #quiltcoatalong #quiltcoat by @jecollins77

This is the saga of a knit bodice. This top is revision 12 of my fitting quest. Finally everything is correct, armholes, neck, bust, shoulder seam and back. The final change was this was a cardigan through all the fittings and just before hemming it a was holding the two fronts together to see how much to add for a pullover and thought “this looks really good. So I found a fancy stitch on my sewing machine , butted the collar fronts together and sewed them up to the”v”. Because of the cardigan collar it’s like having a facing all ready complete.
