Here’s the 10-second check that protects you: before you file your I-765, open page 2 of your new I-20.

Under Employment Authorizations, you should see your OPT (or STEM OPT) with status REQUESTED and your start and end dates.

No REQUESTED means don’t file yet: email your DSO. Then file within 30 days of the recommendation and no later than 60 days after your program ends.

Save this for later and send it to a friend who’s graduating. This is general information, not legal advice; confirm with your school’s international office.

You asked if companies sponsor H-1B visas outside tech, so I looked it up. The answer is yes.
In 2025, public school districts sponsored teachers, consulting firms sponsored environmental engineers and scientists, and design firms sponsored landscape architects and urban planners.
Food companies and universities sponsored food scientists. Real employer names from US Department of Labor filings are pinned in the comments, plus how to look up any field yourself in 30 seconds.
The numbers are smaller than in tech, but a firm that sponsored someone in your exact role is a real lead. Didn’t see your field?

Comment it and I’ll look it up next. Past sponsorship is not a promise, so always check the job posting.

Plot twist nobody puts in the job description: being qualified enough to train your boss, but not “ready” to be one. 🙃

To every woman doing the work behind the title: keep receipts, keep your network warm, and never confuse their timeline with your value. ✨

The new F-1 rule is on hold.
I pinned the official links, what to check before you travel, and what happens if the rule comes back.
This is a temporary court order and it can change, so save this and follow for updates.

*Not legal advice: confirm your situation with your school’s international office.*

“Do you now or will you in the future require sponsorship?” If that question stops you on every application, start here.

These are the companies that sponsored the most H-1B visas in 2025, sorted by industry, with the majors that fit and the degree level each industry usually hires.

Tech, chips, cars, accounting, consulting, banking, healthcare and universities (which skip the H-1B lottery) are all pinned in the comments.

The full guide with all 87 companies, salaries and where non-STEM majors get sponsored is free at the link in my bio.
Past sponsorship is not a promise, so always check the job posting.

*Based on US Department of Labor filings from October 2024 to September 2025.*
*Not legal advice.*

3 moods, 3 outfits — because apparently I need a different personality for every occasion 🤎

A little corporate workwear, a date night outfit, and something feminine for when I just want to dress up.

I’ve been having so much fun figuring out my personal style lately and finding outfits that still feel like me whether I’m heading to work, dinner, or somewhere a little dressier.

1, 2 or 3 — which outfit are you picking?

outfit ideas, fall outfits, workwear, date-night outfit, feminine style, NYC fashion

International student life is such a strange mix of opportunity and uncertainty. 🇺🇸

You come here excited to study, build a career and create a life for yourself… and then slowly discover all the little rules, restrictions and questions that come with doing it on an F-1 visa.

“Do you require sponsorship?”
Finding the perfect role and realizing you’re not eligible.
Watching graduation get closer while wondering what comes next.
Building friendships, routines and a whole life here while knowing that staying isn’t always guaranteed.

And somehow, you keep going. 🤎

International students — which one hit you the hardest? Or what would you add to Part 2?

A slow WFH morning before the laptop opens ☕️📖

A little movement, coffee, and a few pages before the emails start coming in. Nothing elaborate — just learning to enjoy the quiet parts of my morning before work takes over.

Currently reading The Life Impossible by Matt Haig.

F-1 seniors: most big US scholarships ask for a US passport. These 7 don’t.
If you’re an international student planning grad school, there is funding open to you right now at Stanford, Cambridge, Oxford, Peking University, across Europe and here in the US, and the first deadline (Knight-Hennessy) is October 6.
The full list is pinned in the comments with what each one pays for, who can apply, the deadline and the link.

Save this so you can find it later and send it to a senior who needs it.
Juniors, take notes, because most of these open again next summer.
Details checked October 2, 2026, so confirm on each official site before you apply.

3 days of home workouts this week.

Keeping my routine simple: full body, lower body, and upper body + core with dumbbells at home. No complicated setup — just trying to stay consistent.

Save this for a little home workout motivation 🤎

Seniors most often regret picking a major without checking STEM OPT. Your first year prevents this regret.

Go to DHS STEM Designated Degree List and cross check your code.
