I’ve spent a lot of time trying to figure things out on my own. And while there’s something rewarding about solving a difficult problem, I’m learning that there’s just as much wisdom in knowing when to ask for help.

One of the great things about getting older is realizing that I don’t need to know everything. I just need to keep learning, stay curious, and surround myself with people who know things I don’t.

I’m grateful for people who are generous with their knowledge. They’ve saved me more time and frustration than they’ll ever know.

Here’s a riddle that stayed with me for decades: What’s an English word that doesn’t have any vowels? No A, E, I, O, U, or Y.

I finally found an answer after all these years, and I was maybe a little overly excited about it. Now I’m curious how long it will take someone else to figure it out.

Any guesses? No Googling!

I recently learned about something called Adaptability Quotient (AQ).

It’s the ability to adjust, learn, and respond to change.

With how quickly our world is changing, especially with AI, I can see why adaptability is becoming such an important skill.

I’ve always considered it one of my strengths.

But I’ve been realizing that adapting quickly isn’t necessarily the same as navigating change well.

Sometimes moving forward is easy. It’s slowing down long enough to bring others along that’s hard.

And I’m learning a lot about that from my wife.

One of the things I loved most about living in Hong Kong was being surrounded by people who were passionate about what they did.

I saw it in our church community and in friends who opened restaurants, made films, built businesses, and pursued careers in art and music.

There’s something contagious about being around people who pursue excellence.

Over time, it changed my understanding of what was possible. Things that once seemed extraordinary started to feel within reach.

I don’t think I realized how much that environment shaped me until we left.

Now that our family has moved to Tennessee, I’ve been reflecting on just how much those 16 years shaped me. Hong Kong will always be a part of who I am.
