Years ago, I found myself in Côte d'Ivoire, filming a story that didn’t ask to be told—one of quiet courage and human fragility.

I followed surgeons through makeshift wards, stood beside UN peacekeepers in the heat, and watched life slip away in a room that had no walls for grief.

There was no paycheck. No glamour. Just the hum of purpose and the dust of long days.
I wasn’t working. I was witnessing.

A decade ago, I went to Mongolia with a camera, a tent, and no real understanding of how much the journey would change me.

For six weeks, I camped, trekked, and followed a group of rangers through the Darkhad Valley and the wild country surrounding it, trying to tell the story of the people protecting one of the most remote places I had ever known.

I thought I was there to document their world. In many ways, that world quietly reshaped mine.

The people I met, the vastness of the landscape, the long days, the silence, and the responsibility of being trusted with someone else’s story changed the way I approached photography and filmmaking. The lessons I carried home from Mongolia would shape nearly everything that came after.

Ten years later, these photographs feel like more than an archive. They are a map back to the place where so much of my career began.
