in may I had the incredible opportunity to be a guest teacher at Welcome! Impro Fest in Roma. @ibugiardini are the most wonderful hosts!!! 🎭🥘🍷😊

the entire experience from the workshops, to the incredible meals before during and after the events each day, to the ensemble performances of "Osteria Pigneto" created by @psimpro_stylin with iBugiardini was divine.

On the final night, there was a massive slo motion fight scene instigated by @mattopacity, culminating in "Just Play!" from France bringing on an entire sofa. 👨‍🍳😘

I'm so glad I went with a b&w roll of film for this leg of the journey 🤍🖤 taken in Teatro Hamlet by @jeffgladstone

on a brilliant recommendation from a friend, i picked up a cheap point & shoot camera and a couple rolls of film for my trip to italy
when photography came on the scene, everyone thought that would be the end of painting, it was so instant and so easy
and now we have phones that can take a bazillion pictures, and automatically frame, light & focus so we dont have to
and with ai we can autogenerate a tuscan skyline so we dont even have to leave our house

but the experience of hauling a little gadget around the city, choosing a moment, lining up the frame, snapping at the right moment, waiting for the developing, the mystery of what would be revealed... all mattered, and the human experience of what I hope and feel, is present in these images

the process is the art, the product is the evidence

Thank you @guidomateri for hosting me for a joyful three days of workshops in Firenze !! We got to explore narrative, tilts, being changed, scenes from truth, playing animals, and a little Maestro. What an absolutely magical beautiful time at Welcome! Festival with iBugiardini in Roma. So many fabulous shows, new friends, deep laughs, and the best food I've ever had in my life. It was such a treat to teach 2 workshops, across language & culture, and all of us bonding over the fact that Canada is not america. Grazie grazie. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

So happy that The Bearded Girl is out in the world, and heading out on a Cross Canada Road Show! Its a beautiful whimsical coming of age adventure story that is a celebration of being a freak. Thank you @jodysays for inviting me to be a part of this world! And for saying yes to the cinnamon heart idea, and strapping a camera to a car and giving me the keys!

One more screening in Vancouver next Saturday May 2 330pm at the Rio Theatre.

THE BEARDED GIRL hit our screens earlier this week and we couldn't be more proud to champion this one — a charming, surreal and deeply felt coming-of-age story from Alberta's own, writer/director Jody Wilson (@jodysays)!

A young woman on the brink of inheriting her mother's role as matriarchal leader of an outcast circus community runs away instead, reinventing herself among the normies of a tiny farm town. Until the truth of who she is can no longer be concealed. A CUFF film through and through ♥️💜

So thrilled to celebrate homegrown talent with this incredible debut and to have Jody in attendance along with cast Jeff Gladstone (@jeffgladstone) & producer Amber Ripley (@amberipley).
