I don't know about you guys, but I have been seeing a lot of people, who know absolutely nothing about 3D or apparantly what looks real, sharing the Bat that was made using astra, and they claim it is photoreal, and that it was made in 60 seconds.
As far as I have heard, it was made in 4 hours, and it looks like horrendous.
I don't claim that it won't get good, but this ain't what I would want to prize as a beautiful photoreal render. it is mostly just a few scaled primitives and a fur modifier.
absolute clownery we are witnessing.

Worst part is, I am feeling some fucking crazy Gell-Mann amnesia seeing all these people sharing their "expert" opinions. by @jeffhhansen

Chipping away at this big boy. Still plenty of refinement ahead. But I like sharing the process instead of just showing the final shots. This picture is a quick render inside of @marmoset3d !

Staying in the halloween theme a bit! 🦇
I made this not too long ago as a warmup for the day. I really don't know what to say man, it is a weird mix of a vampire, pig and bat or some shit, you tell me what went through my mind that day 😂 But I did think it was fitting to send it into the ether during this time!

Happy Halloween! 🎃🎃🎃
Today I took the time to indulge a bit in the Halloween theme, and make a scary pumpkin themed character.
I did all of it on stream and had a lot of fun just being super loose and playing with the shapes.

Enjoy some chill vibes and follow as I nudge in a few details to the 3d sculpt in zbrush on the troll.
It was one of those super zen and relaxing sessions where you can just Let yourself follow the flow of the sculpt and jump around doing a bit here and a bit there. Everyone should have more of that in their life 😅🌞 by @jeffhhansen

Continuing the work on this character.
This time I spent a little bit of time on the Feet and hands, they were still just a few blobs at the ends of the limbs.
The guy is coming along nicely and isn't super far away from a detail pass at this point. I do have a few recordings I still need to edit of the modelling of his staff that is incoming!🗡️

Further refinement on this character, this time I spent most of the time on bringing up the arms a bit.
I wanted him to seem strong but still have a high level of body fat and a little bit of age to him.
I keep focus on the silhouette and try to avoid making him look like an ecorche, while still taking some stylistic choices along the way.

Progressed on the head of the troll a bit today!
Just took it slow and hung out with the people in the chat on stream. I did the render in marmoset toolbag by the end to check the current results, it can always be a bit tricky to be 100 percent sure of it inside of zbrush. still a fair bit of work to do for it, but it is coming along!😁 by @jeffhhansen

Continuing on the Troll from yesterday. This is a pretty simple session where I merge everything and work the forms a bit more to try and give him the look I want. in the end his limbs here still have a bit of way to go.

Sharing the beginnings of the ogre project.
I work on a few different character at the moment, and time to share how I start a lot of my work.
Usually it start from a humble sphere and I just start pulling shapes left right and center. I like boxes.. for everything, I am not sure if anyone else has this affinity? 😅..
Anyway, by the end of a blockout I like to bring my stuff quickly into engine and test them out like I do here in unreal. it makes it very clear if there are any proportion issues or size issues!
