What a perfect way to probably end hiking season 2026. This season did not go as planned - between being out 3 months with my knee, and more recently out of commission from Covid for 16 days, I really didn't know if another hike would happen. But today the forecast looked perfect and my friend and I hiked 9 miles and climbed 2100ft to Timberline lake. The lake sits at 9,650ft elevation, yet on October 18th, it was 50 degrees, sunny, and almost no wind. And not a single other person there. If this ends up being my final hike of the year, this was a great way to finish. I have BIG plans for next summer already! by @jeffholden73

Last week Heather rode with me while I golfed. I am NOT a golfer. Just a person that will occasionally hit golf balls and hope they kind of go where i want them too, which isn't often. Well she was apparently my good luck charm and I got par on 3 of the 9 holes. So today I decided to play again. It wasn't going well. So I decided to give it all I had with my 3 wood on a 190yrd hole, and it like exploded. The club I mean. I knew it had a little crack where the face meets the head, but this had me laughing my ass off on the 5th tee box when I saw it. I couldn't even find the face! It must have flew up into a nearby tree and got stuck. How crazy! taken in Par 3 Golf Course by @jeffholden73

Sometimes its good to really push yourself physically and mentally out of your comfort zone. My legs are the weakest they have been in several years thanks to my knee injury that only fully head mid July. For a years I have wanted to make it to Sundance Pass. So on Friday morning I took off on my first backpacking trip in 8 or so years. I camped two nights at the incredible September Morn lake (9,650ft elevation), and on day 2 climbed to the pass and then rock scrambled further to the highest point I have hiked to in MT - about 11,300ft. The total trip was 22 miles, 4,200ft of climbing, and 16 of that was done with a 50+ pound pack. I am so proud of myself for getting this accomplished and maintaining about 2.25mph the whole time. The weather was perfect and the views were out of this world. What an awesome way to "end" the summer! by @jeffholden73

One of those Sunday's where the most important thing to accomplish is changing positions from comfy to more comfy. We gave Bennett the nickname "king comfort" a long time ago because he is the master of finding the most comfortable spots and positions possible for his rest time haha by @jeffholden73

Enjoying my last day under my neighbor's beautiful tree. This tree gives us great shade all afternoon and makes our yard feel a lot more private. But unfortunately it needs to go for some reason or another, and that's not my choice. I will miss it though as we have no actual trees of our own. by @jeffholden73

Took a crazy no-trail adventure to an alpine lake to fish up on Hell Roaring Plateau. The hike involved steep terrain, marsh land with waist high brush, and several creek crossings. And the road there was horrific but my trusty Subaru got us up it. Still a great day as we caught plenty of trout, found some awesome views, and had great weather! by @jeffholden73

I LOVE having a Sierra two miles from my house. I was so excited when it opened two years ago. Got everything in this picture for $100. The sandals alone retail for $100. Its pretty much the only place I shop for outdoor gear and clothes/footwear in general. I went there looking for a backpacking tent, which surprisingly they had none of, but came home with plenty of other goodies anyways! Even found some things for Bennett and Heather! by @jeffholden73

For the first time since I bought this drum kit 7 years ago, I finally added an addition to it! Its called a popcorn snare and it sounds completely different than my regular snare. Just this one addition has added so much more variety to what I can do. I know my playing is sloppy, but I was too excited not to share how cool this new piece is! by @jeffholden73
