I had the pleasure of speaking on a panel at TD Bank NY Headquarters alongside fellow entrepreneurs, where we discussed the challenges of building a startup, the pivots along the way, lessons learned, and the opportunities that still lie ahead.

The Southeast Queens Small Business Innovation Lab, funded through the support of NYS Assembly Member Clyde Vanel (@clydevanel), begins Thursday, July 30th with 4 workshops over 4 weeks, featuring an incredible lineup of speakers ready to help you build a stronger business.

💼 Week 1: NYS Assembly Member Clyde Vanel will kick off the program, followed by Jeff Lindor (@jefflindor_) of Gentlemen’s Factory (@gentlemens.factorygf) who will share practical strategies for building a business designed for sustainable growth and long-term investor appeal.

⚖️ Week 2: Isa Abdur-Rahman, Esq. breaks down the legal and operational essentials every entrepreneur needs to build a business that lasts.

Three Black students admitted to Stuyvesant.

Nearly 60% of the population on Rikers is Black.

Those two facts are not the same issue, but they are part of the same conversation.

If we want different outcomes, we have to ask better questions.

What happens in the years before a child takes the SHSAT? What policies, investments, and opportunities shape the trajectory of a young Black boy long before he enters a classroom or a courtroom?

I’ve spent the last several months researching those questions for an upcoming policy report on the state of Black men in America.

The data tells a powerful story.
