Ibiza, you were unreal! I was blessed to be able to celebrate my 40th birthday in the mecca of dance music with Abet, my cousin, my X-Fade brother, friends, and especially my Kuya who's influenced my music tastes since the beginning. Being from Chicago, the home of house music, it made this trip even more meaningful. Nothing like hearing samples of house classics throughout "klerb island," as my brother dubbed it 😆

As I reflect on my 30s, I had a lot to celebrate and be grateful for including 10 years of marriage, our first house, and reaching career heights I didn't think were possible this early on. I've traveled globally, attended numerous festivals, and enjoyed plenty of amazing experiences and meals.

My mid 30s also came with heavy grief, unimaginable losses (and close calls), and crippling anxiety. It was a hard lesson in learning how fragile life is. After years of investing in my mental health, my outlook on life has changed. I don't want to wait for the "right time" to live life fully, do what makes me happy, and spend time with loved ones while I can. I'll never be free of grief, but I can learn to live with it and move forward.

Life is too short. Tomorrow is never promised.

Love harder.
Forgive genuinely.
Be more patient.
Be more kind.
Have more empathy.
Take that trip.
Try that restaurant.
See your favorite artist.
Learn that new skill.
Pickup that hobby.
Add to cart.
Call that friend.
Make it out of the group chat.
Go to Ibiza.

In therapy, I learned It's ok to put yourself first. In fact, it's necessary. I typically put others' needs before my own, but it's not sustainable if I don't look after myself too, so consider this a PSA for you to do the same no matter where you are in life.

Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes and to all who have shown up for me at any point in my life. It was meaningful then, it's meaningful now, and I'll forever be grateful.

Happy 40th Birthday!

Seeing you live your best life this week (all year, really lol) has given me so much joy. You deserve all the happiness all the time!

I love every facet of who you are and I'm forever grateful that you were born.

I love growing old with you. From highschool, to UofI, to becoming husband & wife--seeing you thrive in every phase of your life has been a blessing.

Thank you for bringing love and light to me, and our family and friends for the past 40 years. You are so loved and appreciated.

Happy 6 year anniversary, DFHFAM! We began this journey together on Wednesday March 25, 2020. A lot has changed since then, but we have so many digital memories to reminisce about and connections to last a lifetime.
