Over the last three months I've been working on an incredible project very close to my heart called Guardians of York. This project has given us the opportunity to showcase pandemic workers in a truly edgy and urban art style and navigate people around the city landscape of York. This has taken months of planning and organising and has grown in both stature and importance over time whilst we have been working towards its execution.

Listening to each participant tell their stories was both heart wrenching and up lifting. To complete this project in the way we did, with the teams and people that supported us, and the outflow of love from the general public both locally, nationally and internationally was amazing. The recognition from industry specialists to local and major news outlets gave this project the success it deserved.

I want to thank all of the participants from the bottom of my heart who made this possible. I'd also like to give special thanks to my new and developing projects team -  Brenna Hebrink, Craig Feather Natasha Clarke. Also a very special thanks to The York BID (Andrew Lowson, Carl Alsop and Jo Little)who we have worked closely with on this project and will work with on others in the future. Last but not least, a huge thank you goes to the incredible artists who made this happen, The Postman. You guys absolutely crushed it!

If anyone wants to know more about this or other upcoming projects or work with us, please get in touch with me or visit AOP Project's website at www.artofprotest.co.uk and sign up to our mailing list to stay on the pulse of what we're up to!

“Take me on the journey.
For I have much to see.
Take me on adventures.
So that my mind can be free.

I watch how the clouds shape the sky,
Casting shadows just below.
Ever-changing landscape,
Making it feel both fast and slow.

Life is but a story,
And one that I tell well.
But is there any point in the poem,
If you had no one to tell?”

📍 Jeff Clark – @acombfest , York

These words, featured in @j.seeart photography piece at AcombFest, perfectly captured the spirit of the festival.

Inspired by the ‘Return to Nature’ theme, the poem invites us to slow down, embrace adventure and notice the world around us. It’s the closing lines that really resonated with me.

That, for me, is exactly what AcombFest was about. After 18 months of community engagement, Jeff Clark and the @_artofprotest_ team created more than a street art festival. They created a space where people came together to share stories, listen, learn, connect and celebrate their community through art and nature.

Stories, like art, are most powerful when they’re shared.

ACOMB FEST 2026

It’s a wrap! Wow what a weekend!

Over 12,000 + visitors (and counting), sell out events, some of the biggest nights for the bars and food vendors, a celebration of the area with world class art and a legacy which will help shape a future generation of creativity. We could not be more proud of what Acomb fest has achieved!

We want to start by saying a huge thank you to all the local businesses, community, schools, residents, community groups and churches for all their hard work and fabulous hosting skills. This festival was for you guys and none of it would’ve been possible without you.

And to our artists who have brought unbelievable artwork to our highstreet - @smugone , @curtis_hylton , @sledone , @thepostman_art @_peachzz_ , @tomlikesstatic and @j.seeart . Although the festival is over, the beautiful work these guys have created will last and continue to bring joy, colour and pride for many years to come.

@_rarecollective_ deserve some big love for the paint jam in support of @sashyorks . Amazing team and fabulous art!

All of our AOP team and volunteers, you guys have smashed it! Over 18 months of hard work and it has paid off in such a beautiful way.

The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive and we are so pleased that so many people enjoyed the festival, activities and artwork.

It has been a pleasure to work with everyone involved and we’d like to give a special mention to our friends at @greateracomb who have been with us on this journey from the very beginning.

And finally thank you to our partners and sponsors, @yorkstjohn , @york_school_of_art , @yorkshirewildlifetrust_ , @blkhat.studio , @yorkcivictrust_ , @uniofyork , @cityyorkcouncil and our charity partner @sashyorks

Now, we have so much to talk about that we can’t fit it all in one post. So, please keep an eye out for all the fabulous pictures and details to follow to see what everyone got up to.

Again, thank you everyone for your support and hard work. No matter how big or small, we appreciate every single one of you.

We want to say a huge congratulations to our Creative Director, Jeff Clark who won “Educator of the Year Award” on Friday evening.

This has been a long journey from struggling in mainstream education with dyslexia and ADHD and being expelled from school. Jeff still drove success through a creative path working for the Guggenheim, National Geographic and the Halcyon Group.

He has turned his problems into power and created Art Of Protest. He has used the business for good by changing the street art game and educating the underrepresented through art.

He has shown thousands of young people how to use their voice and show that traditional learning is not the only route to success.

Using Jeff’s story, we noticed how much of a struggle mainstream education can be for so many young people. We now, as a multi-disciplinary Team, have drawn on trauma-informed and restorative approaches to develop our strength based 5 C’s pedagogy - curiosity, confidence, creativity, collaboration, and capability . We have delivered workshops to over 10,000+ young people nationally.
Through all the people we have engaged with we see the growing need to address the national and local challenges of NEET, engaging SEND, declining attendance rates, building cohesion and belonging.
Our path of creative learning has taken us on many routes such as being commissioned by the North Yorkshire Combined Authority to address anti-social behaviour and attendance challenges. We have seen the impact our Street Art Academy has on everyone, especially those who need it most.
Unfortunately, none of our funding has come from the education sector but this is where we are making the biggest difference.

At the heart of the Art Of Protest and Jeff’s work is community, changing lives and tackling these problems which are very close to home.

Congratulations again Jeff - a driving force for change and an inspiration to many. by @jeffreysimagefactory

Quick round up of the last 4 x weeks!
@aopprojects team have smashed it the beginning of this year!
I've also made it out every week to hit a mountain ⛰️ and get my nature fix.
With amazing friends and family, I am incredibly grateful.
In a very uncertain world, which feels rocked daily by the news of atrocities committed by rich white old men, I feel the want to fight and run away all at the same time.
But here and now we can and should, so it will start with education and not letting the manipulative process take grip.
Stay kind, and stay humble my peeps!

I also claimed my last mountain in England and Wales above 700m (Pillar). 30k and worth it! by @jeffreysimagefactory

I feel more and more thankful or the amazing life and friends and family I have around me as I watch the sun rise over the mountains on an early morning in the lakes after a very busy week/month and year of making the world a better place through art and workshops.

Although I'm tired and sometimes nothing feels easy, I am reminded daily via the news just how lucky I am and the privilege we indulge in.

Massive thanks goes out to all the family and friends, and the Art of Protest team who make the world go round.
Big love all. ❤️ 💙 💜 by @jeffreysimagefactory
