… then shingle-style was the style for you. It was, after all, “the architecture of the American summer, “ as architectural historian Vincent Scully once wrote, a style “open to the sea, the air, and the light - an architecture created entirely for recreation, escape, and the temporary release from urban pressure.”Signature practitioners like Fred L. Savage and William Ralph Emerson designed “cottages” with sometimes 25 to 35 rooms, with an eye to making the most of the landscape…

… All of these demonstrate the entire team’s intentions for the family. “Although newly designed and constructed,” Fisher says “it feels as if it has always been there and will be for generations. “ 𝐌𝐇𝐃

I am making an effort to share a bunch of new work with y'all. This image is hot off the presses. It's a treasured collab with @performancebuildingsupply.
Notice the engraved nautilus on the wood paneling? It's a door to a utility space :0

That’s neat, yes. But this house has some more serious features like using relatively little energy and being well planned for long-term resilience.

I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about this house in the future. For now, I hope you enjoy my favorite photo from this project.

Featured here are low VOC cabinets in antique, reclaimed barn wood from my friends @purekitchen.nyc and soapstone counters fabricated by @surfacecreationsme The induction range is an Aga Elise.

I offer a big and special thanks to the family who lives here who trusted me to help them bring their beautiful vision over the finish line. I am so lucky to have you in my circle.

And another big thanks to @jeffrobertsimaging for his incredible photography talent and kindness and being just an all-around interesting, cool person.

And then there’s @good.lookn -- the Audrey Hepburn of stylists. Classy and an incredible talent.

Both of these pros are like the babysitters you want to keep to yourself.

Peace friends :) by @jeffrobertsimaging

It’s the height of summer here in Maine, and we are squeezing out every drop. May the days continue to be as warm and beautiful as this sun-soaked spot! ✨ ☀️

Nature and constructed form coexisting

We had the great pleasure to work with @g2_collaborative to develop the meadows and marry the forms with a softened landscape.

Here’s a peek at our Oceanview Project 🐚

When I think about this home, what stays with me most is not just the design itself—it’s the relationship behind it.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of designing three homes for this family. Along the way, I’ve gotten to know them beyond floor plans and finishes. I’ve watched their lives evolve, celebrated milestones with them, and what began as a client relationship has grown into a lasting friendship.

Being invited into someone’s home is something I never take for granted. Home is deeply personal, and creating a space that truly reflects the people who live there begins with listening, understanding, and building trust.

Those relationships are the foundation of my work. Many of my clients return to me to design multiple homes over the years because each project builds on the last. The more I understand how they live, gather, rest, and grow, the more thoughtfully I can create spaces that feel like they truly belong to them.

At the end of the day, it’s never just about beautiful interiors. It’s about creating homes that hold a life well lived—and the relationships that make that work so meaningful.

In Maine, there has always been a deeply rooted relationship with shingle style architecture.

Here, shaped by coastline, the site and its nuances providing the blank palette in which to begin. Excerpts from @oceanhomemag May | July 2026 edit.

“At the start, firm principal Warren Fisher soaked up the region’s distinctive character, drawing inspiration from nearby architecture while registering the landscape’s rustic textures and earthy hues. In response to these inputs, he drew a well-scaled, timeless retreat with sweeping rooflines, a granite foundation, and both covered and open-air porches.”

The site had its own intricacies but each held its own in the finished design. “ Pushed to one side of the property, the resulting home is angled ever so slightly, facing the rocky coastline, nestled into stands of established trees. “This stretch turns all the key living spaces into one-room-deep masses, allowing views and light to enter from multiple directions. They also jig back and forth along the horizontal spine, making the structure look like it grew over time.”
