Not a bad view during my bicycle ride this morning! by @jefftpt

Congratulations to the flagship ensembles of the CSU Long Beach Jazz program - the Concert Jazz Orchestra, Latin Jazz Orchestra, and Studio Jazz Band. They presented three amazing concerts last week and will prepare 23 new charts during the next couple weeks for their November 8 & 9 concerts! So proud of these future professionals! by @jefftpt

Greetings fellow jazz educators - Please take a look at the new ad for the Jazz Educators Handbook by Doug Beach and I.

https://kendormusic.com/product/20825-the-jazz-educators-handbook-jarvis-beach/

The second edition of The Jazz Educator’s Handbook has been revised and updated by co-authors Doug Beach and Jeff Jarvis. First published in 2002 this new edition has been streamlined and modernized for the contemporary classroom. Whether you are a veteran jazz educator or a band director with minimal jazz experience this resource offers field-tested strategies to help you offer the best possible training for your students. In addition to the many printed music examples in the book there are over 150 mp3 audio recordings that complement the text available for download.

“Doug Beach and I co-authored the 1st edition of Jazz Educators Handbook to assist band directors with disparate levels of jazz experience. Since that time, educators around the world have used our suggestions to help their students learn and enjoy jazz music. But since the original publishing date of 2002, teaching strategies have been continually transformed by daily advances in music technology. What hasn’t changed is the human dynamic; jazz educators are still driven by passion for the music and the insatiable desire to teach. We hope the 2nd edition’s updated information, combined with your experience and instincts, will help jazz music to evolve for years to come.”

Had to post this pic of the Cal State Long Beach Concert Jazz Orchestra with our 2025 Downbeat Award wins. This picture was taken backstage at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Anaheim CA. We had just finished playing a concert that ended with guest soloists Wayne Bergeron and Vincent DiMartino. Good friends and great music!! by @jefftpt
