โ€˜The Blue Devilโ€™ - A Love Letter To Ancestral Memory And Spiritual Resilience ๐Ÿ’™ Photographer: Myself Pants & horns: Made by me ( @simonevanessaa ) Model: @jeheelflip MUA : @0vspace ๐Ÿ’™ Rooted in Afro-Caribbean culture; This masquerade (The Blue Devil) dates back centuries, drawing on a legacy of resistance, exaggeration, and folklore. Originated in the hills of Paramin from enslaved people and their descendants, using blue washing powder to distinguish themselves; subversively to mock, taunt and confront their oppressors, expressing dissent through a figure that created fear and demanded acknowledgement while ritually reclaiming their humanity.
