“I feel our last tie is nostalgia, cause I don’t know you anymore.”

As my fingertips danced along the keys of a Fender Rhodes, I began to think about how intriguing it is to have a lifetime’s worth of memories with someone who’s no longer in your life. Having the only form of facial recognition being from a few photos, rather than from living memories. The phrase “I miss you” feeling slightly warped from the real truth: “I miss those times.” by @jeirmusic

Q1: By January 2nd, I took a pair of clippers to my beloved fro, and everything has felt different since. The sweetest moments seem to shy away from a camera lens, but I’m grateful for the few that didn’t. The sounds of Blossom Dearie, Victoria Monét, John Coltrane, Lucy Pearl, The Clark Sisters, and Donnell Jones seeped through my wired earbuds; and slows walks right before dusk have been grounding. I’m grateful for every new face, kind word, genuine hug, friend, family member, etc. that showed and continues to show love. Right back atcha! Lol by @jeirmusic

I’ve never spoken much about my job… but here are some military moments & memories exemplified by (but not limited to) the photos & faces in this thread. It’s such a large part of my story, and I think it’d be negligent not to honor that.

These are just some of the moments that I still have on my phone (you should see the hard drive) ✨ So many stories… so many people who I attribute my journey to on all ends of the spectrum of good, bad, and indifferent. At the end of the day, “ain’t nothing but love… it’s getting sweeter & sweeter.”

“I Choose To Live” is a statement piece that I wear with intention + love fr. It’s a vow to God, myself, and my loved ones; that I will continue to show up and make the best of what’s before me + around me. Easier said than done; but gentle reminders, like @liveyourfreedom , make it easier to stand on. ✨ It’s an honor to be a part of something; especially when it’s something you believe in.
