Tomorrow I graduate from my accelerated nursing program. In the midst of it, I unexpectedly had to lay my mom to rest. I never knew I could feel so much until I lost the half that made me whole. Showing up, socializing, studying, and taking tests seemed impossible. I can’t put into words how hard and lonely this journey is. I’m still learning to coexist with grief as it will always be a part of me just as she is. What could have reasonably broke someone else has made me 10x stronger. I’ve handled everything with strength and grace, just like my mother taught me. This degree means so much more to me now. I have an extra push in everything I do because of her.
