Today I am going back to work after being extremely privileged to have had three months of paid caregiver leave so I could focus on my mom and her recovery. I’ll be working from Wisconsin for the time being, and have turned my mom’s craft room into an office with a beautiful view. Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things! taken in Williams Bay, Wisconsin by @jen.coleson

This spot plus Alanis (on a Walkman back in the day) calmed me down in high school. Seeing if it still does the trick… taken in Williams Bay, Wisconsin by @jen.coleson

My mom is in the ICU. Thank you for everyone who is praying for her complete and speedy recovery. We have seen a lot of progress this week, so please keep the prayers coming. I wanted to bring in Shabbat with my mom. She is not Jewish, but whenever we are together we celebrate Shabbat, and she has always been so supportive of my own spiritual journey.
I am so grateful to the nurses that made this Shabbat happen. They made me candles out of pen lights and medicine cups, found me a hamburger bun and salt packets, and a bottle of juice. I have never made kiddush using a specimen cup before (clean and sterile, don’t worry) but it works. I sang the Kabbalat Shabbat service while sitting next to my mom’s bed and holding her hand. Was it perfect? Was it kosher? No. But it was the most connected I’ve felt in a long time, and I know Hashem saw the effort and the love in that room. Shabbat Shalom. ❤️ taken in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin by @jen.coleson

Please continue to keep my mom, Joey, in your prayers. Her heart is doing well after surgery, but she has an infection in her brain and they have her sedated to help prevent the seizure activity they have seen on her EEG. The doctors have her on several antibiotics and we are hoping and praying they target the infection. She is receiving amazing care in the ICU at Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee. My sister and I are so grateful for the outpouring of support. I am going to put the link to her Caring Bridge site in my Instagram bio for those who don’t have Facebook. Thank you for your prayers! ❤️ taken in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by @jen.coleson
