Been a while since I made a mess...tonight was the night. by @jen_d.art
I did a thing today...not an out of character thing or a difficult thing but a needed thing...a workshop where I learned Japanese stab binding with the amazing Maureen @maureen_dasilva at In Print Collective @inprintca. It was a much easier binding to learn than I expected and its quite intuitive once you understand how it works and Maureen made understanding it super easy! Guess where all my oddly shaped off cuts will now end up??? 😏 Thanks Maureen! It was a good day. Oh also the green one is not a stab binding its a French link but that's not new to me. 😁 by @jen_d.art
Hi friends...its been a while 😁 Just wanted to share this super easy book structure I recently learned, because creating lately is difficult and I needed something short and sweet to scratch the itch. I give you the flutter book. No sew super easy and a fun structure to boot! Learned from Rebecca Chamlee (@pieintheskypress) via an @otiscollege YouTube video from many years ago...no matter it's still good...and I will be making more! ☺️ Thanks Rebecca! by @jen_d.art
1. The book is cooking. 😏 2. The book is cooked. 3. I tidied my space. This is the sketchbook that I made and will be using for the @articulations_to 15th annual #fillerupsketchbookchallenge. It's a leather cover (made with scraps acquired from @hidesinhand and @roncypacks thank you so much!) and filled with Stonehenge aqua 100% cotton cold pressed paper. I kind of love it...if I do say so myself. πŸ˜… Its the first time in a while that I've actually transferred something I saw in my brain to real life accurately...thought and planning...who knew?!!! πŸ€·πŸΎπŸ˜† I'm hoping to fill the whole book with daily creative practice based around beautiful/fun/interesting words and the colour turquoise as a foundation to build on. (Thanks to everyone who gave me word and colour palette inputs, I appreciate you! 😊) I also tidied my space and put out materials so everything is ready when I am, which will hopefully make it easier for me to do a page a day. That being said I am also leaving this app for a bit so the too much time I spend here can be more wisely and productively used for art! ...and other things like reading...writing...studying...generally exercising my brain πŸ˜… If you wanna keep in touch...two words...🐌 βœ‰οΈ 😏 I'm off to live my best luddite life. πŸ–€ by @jen_d.art
Beginnings... This year I decided to make my book for the @articulations_to Sketchbook challenge...its the 15th one!!!! So I present to you a freshly sewn block. I'm determined to fill an entire book this March so I'm planning ahead...I even have an idea! So hopefully this year will be less ramshackle and more cohesive...or it is also very possible that chaos will reign supreme. Either way its gonna be fun. Join me won't you? Also if you've read this far I wish to ask you to contribute to my idea. I'm looking for interesting, beautiful, or your favorite, word. Words will be the basis of my book this year so I need some good ones! Comment or dm me I look forward to crowd sourcing some loverly locutions. Thanks friends! πŸ˜ŠπŸ–€ by @jen_d.art

New book I made this week inspired by Know Love, a kids book written by @elicserelliott. I love it so much that I look at it almost every day and was inspired to make a book to gift to him. This is that book. I loved it so much I almost didn't want to give it away, but he loved it so much I'm happy I did. #harbingerofjoy #madebymejend #bookbinder #bookarts #torontoartist #buymybooks #paintedbymejend #watercolour #booklover by @jen_d.art
Trying out leather book covers with scraps I got from @hidesinhand a while back. I like it so far, but still working on it. 😁 Also you get this song because it was what I was listening to while editing 😏 #madebymejend #harbingerofjoy #bookbinder #bookarts #torontoartist by @jen_d.art
Bit of fun on a dull Tuesday 😁 by @jen_d.art
