Special shoutout to Kylie Coffey for competing in the girls golf state finals today as an individual! With her coach Mr. Robbins at her side and a dedicated cheering section of friends and family walking from hole to hole, Coffey delivered some amazing shots throughout the cooler and sometimes rainy round. Competition continues through tomorrow at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek. Way to represent Jenison well, Kylie! taken in Battle Creek, Michigan by @jenison_schools

Students in Mrs. Koning’s third grade class learned all about gravity and force and magnets during a hands-on science lesson on Sandy Hill Elementary’s playground yesterday afternoon! Under the supervision of their teacher, they made observations, went down slides, made small jumps, and threw piles of leaves into the air. Then they took notes about it all to discuss in the classroom. Awesome work Sandy Hill third graders! taken in Sandy Hill School by @jenison_schools

Congratulations to Carter Cooke for being picked as the @mlivesports top junior for boys cross country in the Grand Rapids area! Cooke collected 3,497 votes, which was good for 78 percent of the total votes cast. MLive had great things to say about him in the article introducing all the candidates:

“Another member of Jenison’s talented junior class, Cooke has shown consistent improvement this fall, opening the season with a 17:14.3, then logging a personal-best time of 15:33.9 at last week’s Otsego Bulldog Invitational. That time currently ranks 24th in Division 1, putting him on track to earn an all-state medal later this year.”

Way to go, Carter, and keep up the great work!

Can you have a foam party in October? If the annual Rosewood Elementary Fun Run is involved, the answer is… YES! Students couldn’t stop laughing as they navigated the huge foam pit in the middle of their obstacle run on Friday. Top photos from the incredible day at the Rosewood! 📸 taken in Rosewood School by @jenison_schools

After another successful school fundraiser, Bauerwood Elementary celebrated with MOVEMENT! Students stretched with @hudsonvillefbbc staff members before walking to Maplewood Park to play games and invade the playground. Then they returned to school to run across a finish line full of bubbles and silly string. We loved all the smiles and connections being made among students. Great work Bauerwood! 🎉 taken in Bauerwood School by @jenison_schools

Thanks to a local watershed grant, Bursley Elementary students recently completed tree planting around their campus! The school’s student safety group first met with a local arborist in the morning and then planted the trees. Great work Bursley! 🌳🌳🌳 taken in Bursley Elementary School by @jenison_schools

That ranked No. 2 in the state feeling! Congratulations to our boys cross country team for an impressive performance over the weekend at the Otsego Bulldog Invitational. They competed with two varsity teams and Jenison Team A won, while Jenison Team B earned 11th place out of 22 Division 1 teams. They also had 5 runners break 16 minutes in the 5k for the 1st time ever. Keep climbing the charts boys cross country! 📈📈📈 taken in Jenison, Michigan by @jenison_schools
