I don’t know where to begin to describe this last month of my life. I have the best friends, the best career and the best family. June marked the last month in my 59th year; tomorrow I turn the big 60. I have to admit this has been the first time in my life where the number felt weighty. HOWEVER … last month brought the freedom of driving my convertible with the sun baking down … the breeze in my hair, the exhaustion from an amazing day at work, the beautiful memories of my parents, the thrill of watching my students excel as they reach for their own stars, the phone calls from my children who somehow still need their mom every once in a while, and the beauty of so many friends. I can’t imagine anything making it better than what it actually is… They say it’s just a number, but numbers really do have significance - and that is a great thing to feel. Significant. We all have many chapters. I have done a lot. I have lived a lot. And here I am still filled with boundless energy plus the desire to do more… to continue to be present for the people I love, to protect my time and my boundaries, and to share my smile with the world. There are moments in life I would love to freeze. Seeing my daughter prepare for the birth of their first child, and watching my son take his final bow as Bob - the role he originated in THE OUTSIDERS, is one. It was a remarkable trip to the big apple seeing my children thrive; there is nothing more gratifying. Cheers to my children for your perseverance and passion in all you do. And hugs to all of the people who love them, who believe in them, and who remain a true blue part of their journey. I have so much gratitude and love for this life. Morgan Robert and me, then & now. She plays Dolly Levi & she is fabulous! But… there’s more. ☺️ I am so proud — and a little awed — by this cast of Hello, Dolly!: kids aged 11 to 17 who show up every day with curiosity, courage, and craft. Watching them work together has been one of the clearest reminders I’ve had lately of what theatre education at its best can be: a place where respect is practiced, collaboration is learned, and creativity is cultivated — not as an abstract ideal, but as something you build together, refine with care, and then celebrate as a team.
These young people are doing the hard things — risking mistakes in public, listening to one another, making choices that serve the story instead of themselves — and in doing that, they’re growing in ways that matter offstage just as much as on. I see them getting braver, kinder, and more precise; I see them becoming citizens of an ensemble. That slow, steady work is beautiful to witness.
One of my favorite parts of this journey has been watching our students grow up on this stage. The photo of Morgan and me side by side - today& when she was just 5- moments like these remind me how powerful continuity can be: how the seeds of curiosity and courage planted years ago can blossom into artistry and leadership.
To our community: thank you. For decades you have believed in this work, in our students, and in the enduring, beautiful magic of putting live stories into the world. As we begin our 26th year, I’m grateful to everyone who fills seats, who cheers in the lobby, who has watched these kids grow up on our stage. Many of you have seen faces change and voices deepen — you’ve witnessed these performers find new heights, theatrically and personally. That continuity — your continuity — is part of what makes growth possible.
I hope you’ll come see Hello, Dolly! — not just to watch a show, but to witness these young people showing up for one another and for the work. It’s honest, it’s earnest, and it’s exactly the kind of theatre our community needs right now.

The life I created in Martin County has been rich and wild. Grounded and simultaneously filled with change. My philosophy has always been that we “make” our lives… we have to get out there and “do.” How lucky I was to have chosen Palm City & Stuart to spend so many decades. From @templebeithayam to @starstrucktheatre all the while raising my beautiful children @amanda.paul & @kevinwilliampaul in a family oriented environment under the Florida sun. As I approach the 25 Year GALA Celebration of StarStruck, I am filled with so many emotions. A quarter of a century. The students currently with us were not even born when we began. Almost half of my life I have worked with so many incredible young people and watched their journeys… the trials and tribulations, the laughter and tears, the parents who were frustrated and grateful… Life is such an amalgamation of highs and lows, but hard work, resilience and faith get us through.

I am so grateful to the community of Stuart, Florida for trusting me to nurture the dreams of so many young people. Last night, three of my delicious, fabulous, energetic, hard-working alums came for a visit and made my heart sing. I am such a lucky teacher. I wish everyone in the world could find their purpose as I have… it makes the days so much better.
