one of my newest illustrations centred around grief ☕️🌱🐇🍃🪆🧡 i turned 25 five days ago & never in my wildest nightmares did i imagine i would have lost both of my parents before it. waking up to them not being there was one of the hardest things i’ve had to do ~ but luckily i have a wonderful support system of friends, family and a very special irish man who made it easier. 🌷🌈✨

recently, i’ve actually wanted to get out my ipad and draw!!!! (hooray! 🫆🥳) and rather than try to ignore my grief, i’m trying to embrace it. you’ll likely see it making its way into all of my ‘personal’ work from now on, and here is the first example! 🌟🏃 when i saw this lovely little poem on pinterest, i knew i needed to make something with it. all of the illustrations pay homage to my parents - from my mum’s collection of russian dolls, to my dad’s love of tea, etc. i’m excited to get this along with other new work printed soon, but for now here it is in digital form!!! ✏️🎟️🥰

got a bit carried away after my last post, and spent my wednesday illustrating a mini-collection of sympathy cards that’s a bit more real, honest & personal than most of the regular ones. 💖✨🥸💫🌒 there’s a couple of cards for when you just don’t know what to say. there’s a card for those who have been through something similar and know people will be a bit stupid through it all. and there’s one for a month, six months, a year or more down the line ~ when you want them to know you still remember. 💭💞🌀

grief is so lonely. don’t fall into the trap of not reaching out because you’re stumped at what to say; use one of these cards instead!!!! ❤️‍🩹📣💖💫 which one is your fave?!?!?!? 💞➡️▶️

📝 NEW! Had a lovely job recently of completing some more visual note-taking for ALIGN, at The University of Birmingham. Instead of live illustration, this time I sifted my way through notes of multiple symposiums, workshops and research ~ and compiled all the main findings into this colourful piece! 🥳✏️🤝💖🔬🧪

Alongside a full image, I put together a bit of a ‘pack’ ~ with individual assets of illustrated characters, buildings and icons, alongside ‘broken-down’ elements of the key information into standalone images. 📚

🚨 NEW! So thrilled to finally share these three illustrated designs I created for West Midlands Combined Authority, which will be permanently displayed large-scale within Birmingham’s three newest train stations; Moseley Village, Kings Heath & Pineapple Road. 🍍👑🧺💖

They’re also available as A4 & A5 prints ~ with the larger ones up on my website NOW! 📣 I’ll pop the smaller ones up soon, but I personally think the A4 ones are the perfect way to soak up all of the detail. Link in my bio if you’d like to get yourself a copy to match your local train station. 🚉😻🤓

Each design is a dedicated map exploring each of the local areas ~ Moseley, Kings Heath, Stirchley & Hazelwell. They celebrate a bunch of the fun features they all offer, or the heritage that surrounds them. I wish I could’ve fit every brilliant thing; like all of the shops, bars, restaurants and other businesses, into them ~ but we still managed to include lots! 🪩🤝☘️🛍️

Research was aided by local residents, who attended community workshops to generate ideas and learn more about the areas and all of the rich history! It was great to speak to so many local people directly, and find out what they want to see in the maps. 📚

It was also a huge joy to be able to feature a small tribute to my Mum; former Councillor for Moseley, Kerry Jenkins, within the Moseley Village map. She would’ve been so proud to see them in their final form, so it’s a lovely way to still have her with me. 💞🗺️

Thank you so much to Ayan, Ananth, Susan & West Midlands Combined Authority for having me along on this absolute joy of a project. The biggest job of my career so far, and it was a dream! 💭❤️🥳

something a little different today! i keep seeing these “things grief has taught me” videos on tiktok, and thought why not make one myself, as i’ve learnt a fair bit already!!!! 😼☘️ for those who don’t know, i lost my dad in august 2024, and my mum in july 2025. it’s coming up to their anniversaries, and i’m coping the best i can through making. 💖💞🪩 here’s a few things grief has taught me in the last two years. forever learning, forever grateful for my friends, forever thankful i’m here today, forever loving, forever illustrating. 🔍

HOORAY! 😼🧺💌🕰️☁️✏️💖 you read that right! i’m now a full-time freelance illustrator. 😀🥰

five years after graduating @bcuillustration & balancing part-time jobs on-top of my freelance work and @bluemoonmarkets organising… i’m finally taking the leap !!!!! 🕳️🕴️🎭🎨💞

i’ve technically been freelance for over two weeks now, and it 100% feels like the right decision and the right time. after years of feeling stretched thin and constantly juggling so many exciting things, i finally feel like i can breathe a bit and enjoy the projects coming through my inbox!!!! 📨 my mum wanted me to take this jump two years ago, but i wasn’t ‘ready’. well listen up mum, i’m ready!!!! and doing it for you ❤️‍🩹😼🫵☁️

as much as i want to enjoy july and all of the wonderful things in my calendar, each day that passes reminds me that we’re itching closer towards the anniversaries of my mum & dad’s death. i can’t believe it’s been almost a year since i lost my mum & two (!!!!) since i lost my dad. it feels so much longer but it equally feels like it was yesterday. anyway, as a coping strategy… i thought it would be good to continue my ‘grief series!’ as the end of the month draws in, especially as i can now listen to some songs that were too upsetting a year ago!!!! exhibit a) marjorie by taylor swift. a beautiful song that fills my eyes up on a bad day, but makes me feel warm and hopeful on a good one. switch the sound if you’d like! but tear warning!!!!!! 💧🎧

HELP! I’ve never done this before, but thought it can’t hurt. You may have seen a recent story I shared which mentioned our beautiful ex-racer, Podge, had been poorly recently. The puzzle pieces of a severe gastrointestinal disease are finally starting to come together; after multiple rounds of medication, blood-tests, an abdominal ultrasound, an endoscopy and multiple nights of hospitalisation. He has been so sick, and has gone from 35kg to 23kg in the space of weeks. You can read more information about his illness & treatments, which started at the beginning of the month, by swiping across. As I mentioned, the pieces are finally starting to come together, and Podge is finally on a treatment plan that the brilliant team looking after him are hopeful will work really well. However, our poorly boy is still in the hospital as we speak, and although our insurance covered the treatment given by our local veterinary practice, we still have a final bill estimate up to £9000 from the Urgent Referrals Hospital. Therefore, we’re asking for help! 🐾❤️

We’ve set up a Crowdfunder. There is absolutely no expectation to donate, but if you have any spare pennies, it would mean the world to us (and Podge!). If you would like to get something back from your donation, I’m offering ‘Podge Merchandise’ via cards, prints and personalised photographs of our beautiful boy (giving you an awkward stare) once he’s home.
