Hey all you expiration-date CRAZIES out there- this was the second feeding of that brackish starter languishing in my Colorado fridge alongside of the Costco milk with the May 22 expiration date next to the Costco yogurt with the 6/8 exp date (both fine by the way…) it seems healthier than the one I feed every few days at home! (Truly. I don’t drink sour milk. But if I taste it and it’s FINE, who am I to argue?!) by @jenmenke

Stop throwing your “dead” starter away! We just got back to Colorado after 3 months away and the first two pics are what my starter looked like. I poured off the gray water ((even used the discard for crackers! 😳), fed it and it doubled after about 6 or 7 hours. It might look scary, but it’s fine! by @jenmenke

It was a long hard winter for the JenDog. But it was saved by lots of visits from friends and family, puzzles, PT and finally, in the last week some fishing, biking and hiking. Annual Menke migration in process.
