Today marks my 3 year anniversary of stepping foot in Guatemala. I couldn’t quite capture all experiences in one spread of photos, but here is a little taste.

I still don’t quite understand this land. It’s beyond anything I have ever felt before. The fire of the volcanos, the depths of the lake, the history of the Mayans, it creates some kind of force within me.

I have grown so much within these years while being so sweetly held by a community of individuals from all around the world. Why travel, when those that are guided here are so unique on their own?

Choosing to live my life with intention though prayer and ceremony has shown me what is beyond the life I was taught. During a time when the world has gone through such “darkness” I have found so much light here in Guatemala. While the shadows are definitely here, these waters mature me.

Gracias a los espíritus por permitirme estar aquí. I will continue to be in service to you and your people as best as I can. For I am internally grateful for what you have given me.

Cornell 7, what can I say, it’s once again a moment to call in our brothers to protect the feminine. Centuries of abuse boiling to the service. I myself have experienced verbal and sexual abuse starting at the age of 14. I’ve grown up fearful of what my beauty would attract just by simply being me. Years I’ve debated, what do I need to dim down to protect myself. I have distant memory of an ex boyfriend saying “well what do you expect?” as if my external appearance was something to validate the abuse I received.

I do feel there is a war on the masculine that is swinging the pendulum to the other side of women shaming, cancelling men who are really just hurt boys, growing up in a world filled with complex sexual programming.

Yes, women need to continue to step into their boundaries advocating for their safety, while men deeply need to do their work WITH other men. Women cannot be the teachers, men need to take self responsibility and ask the real question: am I a safe man? taken in Cornell University by @jenna_macewen

Sisterhood, community and holding myself in solitude have been the hands I needed to walk myself back home after a year of the deepest grief I’ve felt in my life. I knew Pluto transiting over my ascendant would be deep medicine, but reading about it doesn’t quite prepare you for the change you will go through on a cellular level. The grief went far beyond what was presently happening, it was deep, ancestral and collective.

Y’all where are our community grief rituals, where we can come together to cry and shed those stagnant, inner waters?!?

In the middle of my grief portal, my mother rocked me like a baby and my father tenderly held me. I never thought I would see myself, 34 years old, collapsed in my parent’s arms. Yet it also felt so pure to be held and witnessed in my emotional rawness. Multiple people have since shared with me, “Jenna, you look and feel different”, laughing I said well, that’s what happens when you shed the deepest waves within. I do feel incredibly stronger, taller and bolder. It has given me the courage to be exactly who I am, protecting my inner girl that deserves the ultimate best.

It’s these moments when you are on your knees, you have no other choice to connect with your internal strength and a higher power to find your feet again. And these moments I’m eternally grateful for the unfolding.

These pictures represent a moment of breath out with my sisters. We laughed, played and celebrated our beauty as we supported the clothing line and essence of @risingtogether_community. I wouldn’t change anything that has transpired this year for me, it only showed me what happens when you surrender deep enough to let go.

Great change happens when women sit together and share knowledge 🤲

We're so grateful for amazing collaboration moments like this one with Daniela Sagastume-Kuhlow from Piña&Kakaw at the 2026 Volcano Summit 🌋

Two organizations with an alike vision of empowering Indigenous women to lead and carry forward the legacy of their knowledge.

This is what working together looks like, real conversations, shared knowledge, and a shoulder-to-shoulder commitment to change that lasts.

Grateful for women like Daniela who show up, share what they know, and build something bigger together 🌎💙

🌋 "Women are the matriarchs of the family, taking care of the water, food, and shelter." That's Jenna, our Executive Director, on stage at the Volcano Summit with Daniela Sagastume-Kuhlow, co-founder of Piña&Kakaw.

They talked about the work across Guatemala: Water4Life's black and grey water biodigestors, and Piña&Kakaw turning pineapple waste into textile fiber. Two solutions, one idea: women's empowerment is central to restoring environmental balance, moving from extraction to harmony with the earth.

They also spoke on why investing in small startups and grassroots NGOs, the ones closest to the problem, is some of the highest-leverage funding there is. Real change often comes from the people who've been doing the work quietly for years.

🎥 Watch the highlights.

I'm excited to be joining @volcanosummit in Antigua, Guatemala as a guest speaker September 5th-7th! I'll be diving into my work at Water4Life, and what it takes to bridge community, education and women's empowerment to protect the most sacred element to life.

These years our team has been deep in the planning, piloting and now expanding of our work of closed-loop greywater systems. With so much waste happening all around the world, its going to take a lot more than the government to solve these issues. Once we start opening our eyes to the impact of our individual consumption and waste, we can begin to come together as a community to tackle these issues, one layer at a time.

Social Media, for months i've deleted you off my phone, questioning how I want to work with you. I feel more silent these days and a little unclear how I want to show up in my authenticity. So much is unfolding in my life, between heartbreak, career growth, new beginnings and a straighter back bone. For the nearly 8 years of building Water4Life, there was always a wave of "I am not doing enough" or "what the hell do I know". Thanks to a deeper cracking within me (grief), I have a much more grounded sense of myself and a deep knowing of what I bring to the table.

Life is a forever unfolding of greater lessons, leading up to the next evolution of ourselves. I can't say I know exactly what is on the other side of the new me, but I can feel a new found strength that doesn't need to be so loud. Social Media for me was always about expanding my authenticity, yet there was also a subtle need to be seen to validate the strength that I couldn't find within myself.

So now, I come with pride, I come with deep admiration for the energy that I poured into building the Water4Life team that continues to work on the front line of the most pivotal environmental necessity to life. 💧

I give thanks to social media for being the bridge to thousands of donors that have impacted many more thousands of families in Guatemala.

And today, starts our annual summer fundraiser: Gota a Gota, drop by drop. Every donation is doubled up to $10,000, thanks to a generous corporate sponsor of ours.

If you have the means, your impact is much bigger than a few dollars...trust me.

Thank you social media family, I am forever grateful.

🌿 EARTH DAY for me is honoring the immense amount of energy it takes to get this work off the ground. Countless hours building the team, creating proposals & applications, sourcing funding, following guidelines, training, implementation, data collection, maintenance...the list goes on. But when you see it in action, theres a breath out knowing it's all f*ckin' worth it.

Thanks to the Water4Life Guatemala Team, our donors & Rotary International for supporting solutions that are improving environmental conditions in Guatemala. 💪
