I had a conversation with @laufey and @junialin about love, sisterhood, growing up Chinese, and her absolutely magical jazz music. How fitting just a short while later, Laufey would win her first Grammy during the season of love 💓 Link in the bio for the full story! 3) Love is often depicted as two extremes — you’re either completely infatuated and head-over-heels, or you’re utterly heartbroken and lost. However, love is, for most of us, a whole lot of confusion. You’re not only trying to figure someone else out, but also re-evaluating who you are and how love changes you!

4) Being a late bloomer is something that’s far less talked about, because it always seems like everyone’s had relationships from a young age. But fear not — late bloomers, including Laufey, are out there! And while it may be lonely, taking the time to really learn about oneself is just as special 🌺

5) I related so much to Laufey’s experiences in finding cultural nuance in college. But while there are just as many similarities, I’ve also encountered just as many differences. The Chinese diaspora can be incredibly diverse, which means there are equal opportunities to simultaneously bond and learn.

6) I found Laufey’s sense of relationships to be compelling. There’s this idea that just because you’re surrounded by people, you shouldn’t be lonely. Myth! It’s never about the quantity of people around you, but the quality of how well you feel intimately understood.

7) Junia’s story of how she picked the violin was SO CUTE HAHA 😆 I’ve always admired how talented she is at creative direction, and am so glad that I get to relate to her in both of our young violin-playing days 🎻I MISS MY VIOLIN LESSONS

8) Like Laufey says, I also believe that we all have so much love to give 💞 But remember that it may not be for everyone! Find those who you can truly trust and find connection with.

I'll be headed to Northwestern University! This was a hard decision I had to make, but I'm excited to see what the next 4 years will bring. Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way, and I'll visit Iowa City as often as I can! 💜
