Happy anniversary to my green eyes.
Before I met Giselle I was pretty sure I just wasn’t meant to have a love story. I had lots of love in my life but just kept bumping up against the wall when I tried to find someone I really connected with or felt like I could be all of me. Be all of me and be loved for it and because of it. But then we went on that adorable platonic walk two years ago and my heart melted.
Every day I wake up excited to make you laugh so hard your face lights up. Every day I look forward to how I can make you feel safe and seen. Every day I eager await when we can hug and gaze into each other’s eyes like sappy lesbians back from the war of being separated by 8 hours of job. by @jennawithasmile

Half my life without you seems so unfair. But what justice is there anyway. I’ll take my memories of you and our short years together with me forever.

You were the type of carefree they write about in literature. Spunky. Sassy. Brave. Caring. You would take in any lost soul you came upon. You carried the burden of trauma and the sadness of the world around you while flipping the man off.

You were my first feminist icon. My fashion icon. Someone who wanted me to experience the world’s craziness but safely. You would literally give me pot so that I wouldn’t go out to get it from dangerous men. You told me how to fight for myself.

You raised two weirdo’s and the world is better off because of it. When we would act up you would shake your head and mumble ‘some peoples children’. As if it weren’t you that made us this way. lol.

You used to tell me ‘life is a bitch and then you marry one’

I’m so happy your last moments on earth were napping in the sun.

Thank you for giving me my beautiful smile.

This was one of the last times we saw each other before you got sick. We had some tension in those last few years but I understand why. I understand you. I get it. What happened. And how you would have done it differently if you could have. It’s okay mom

Been back at the blood game for one year now and I’m in my feels about it. Proud of myself for essentially changing careers at 40 and overcoming a LOT of hurdles along side it. But I’m good at this work and I like when I help someone get through a fear of needles, or help a trans person get their hormone levels checked, or help a senior manage their dang cholesterol. I miss working with kids sometimes but it’s fun to yap with adults and find out about their lives for 5 min at a time. 🩸🩸 by @jennawithasmile
