Four years ago we started Gem Addict Workshop in a garage addition with a love for silversmithing and for people. Yesterday we opened our first storefront. Feeling so much gratitude for our incredible customers family and friends-Including our husbands who have cheered us on and picked up the slack. We wouldn’t be here without you. 50. It’s a big number. This birthday has been looming in the forefront of my mind since the day after I turned 49. Why does it feel so significant? age is just a number right?! It could be that things don’t look the way I thought they would when I was in my 20’s and planning out my perfect life. Or maybe because in my 20’s I thought 50 was old! (It’s certainly not anymore!)

I’ve spent a lot of time these past weeks thinking about today and the 50 years I’ve spent on this earth. I marvel at the beauty I’ve been blessed to witness. I have had moments of immense joy and overwhelming grief. I’ve used my body to exercise, sleep, laugh, taste, smell and touch. Ive felt the warm sun on my face and danced in the pouring rain. I’ve failed over and over and over again. I’ve succeeded too. I’ve loved and I’ve hated. I’ve made so so many mistakes. I’ve had hardship and ease. I have felt the heat of anger and the sweet peaceful feelings of forgiving. I have been so richly blessed and I’m grateful for every single day from the mundane to the extraordinary. We can’t truly know the sweetness until we have tasted the bitter.

This is me. No filter. Nothing extra. Im always good at seeing my wrinkles and the lines that age has brought with it, but today I am choosing only to see 50 years of experiencing life to its fullest. And I’m so thankful. Here’s to 50 more. taken in Queen Creek, Arizona by @jennbrooks4

Yesterday we celebrated this boys 17th birthday!! Crew is the whole package. He’s my fast food lovin, kind hearted, ridiculously talented, dimple wearing, hilarious boy. He’s good at whatever he tries. Any spare second he’s got, his hands are on a guitar. I love you Crew boy and love having you around!! Happy Birthday to my momma! She’s giving of her time , her talents, her needs and wants but most all her love. Anyone who knows her loves her. It’s not really my thing to get personal on social media, but dang it, lm feeling uncomfortably nudged to share this today.

MARRIAGE:
When my marriage was ending and my world was falling apart, my sweet kids especially the older ones questioned how this could possibly be happening. They saw their parents study the scriptures, go to the temple, serve in our callings, work along side each other, have fun together and joyfully and fearlessly love each other. All the things. They saw happy. They asked why they would ever want to get married and how their marriages would ever have a chance at surviving if ours couldn’t. Although I didn’t have all the answers, I did not have to hesitate with my answer to that question- I knew it then and I know it now. They should get married because MARRIAGE IS WORTH IT!!!
It is the most incredible, worthwhile, important, rewarding and fulfilling relationship we can have and brings so much joy even amidst the hard.

We all painfully learned first hand that Father in heaven never tampers with our agency-our ability to choose, which meant for us someone choosing something other than his marriage covenant. We didn’t know why. We didn’t know how. We didn’t understand. BUT that doesn’t mean all is lost. There’s still hope for beautiful lasting marriages for them, for me, and for each of one Gods children.

Hope for it, work for it, pray for it, live in such a way that you can have it! It is worth it!! Then let Heavenly Father and the Savior do the rest.

At times I still am fearful of my future and I falter in my faith that Heavenly Father has something beautiful in store for me. I want an eternal marriage. So I work and wait and feel grateful for what I’ve experienced and learned along the way.

God always has a contingency plan. He knew it would get messy. He loves us and is always working for our good. 💜 by @jennbrooks4

I’ve been blessed in my life to be surrounded by many people who exhibit Christlike love and this guy is one of them. He’s got a heart of gold. He’s so caring and sensitive to the needs of others and is beyond patient. I’m thankful he was my first born because of the example he sets for his younger siblings. ❤️ by @jennbrooks4
