My little stud is SEVEN. 🧡

I can still vividly remember how I melted the first time I looked into his eyes. He was so alert, so observant — with those little eyebrows already telling me exactly what he thought.

Seven years later, not much has changed. Those eyebrows still give him away, and Smith has grown into one of the strongest kids. Strong-minded, strong-willed, strongly built…the list goes on.

And still, I just melt every time I see him.

He is determined to master whatever is in front of him. From reading and math (he is insane with numbers), to just about any sport (right now it’s soccer), and baseball cards and baseball stats (it’s scary how quickly he can spew out a random factoid). To many he looks like a natural at lots of things. But I get to see what happens behind the scenes — the practice, the persistence, and the quiet work that makes it look easy.

He’s our entertainer and connector — always chasing a laugh and a “do it again!” He’s a friend to so many, yet there’s always room to add one more to the crew. His style is one-of-a-kind, full of little mini personas that make everyone smile — and make me even more excited to watch him grow into who he’s becoming.

He’s also the best brother. Yes, there are some classic middle-child tendencies — but he’s the perfect balance between the yin and yang of his siblings. He’s fiercely protective of the people he loves, and somehow he always knows when someone needs cheering up…jumping in right away to make it better.

That face and the twinkle in his eye. The raspy voice and the cowlick. The way he tells me “I love you the most” — and actually believes it. I’m smitten with my Smitty, and I still can’t believe he’s my boy forever.

Happy Anniversary to the center of my world. 🌎

Fourteen years ago — in arguably the most beautiful place on earth — we promised each other forever and made our cute little trio a family.

Since then we’ve celebrated so many moments big and small, been each other’s protector and provider, raised babies…and the cutest ones at that! We’ve parented through diapers and driving, scrapped knees and heartbreaking loss, first games and first loves. I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have been raising babies with you for nearly 18 years (and counting!).

We’ve experienced our own loss and hardships, some more difficult than others and a few we are still in the thick of. But no matter what you stood by my side, always put me first, and we got through it…and as a result, we’ve always been able to help others get through it, too. One of the things I am most proud of as a couple is our ability, and frankly priority, to be there for our family and friends. We are the couple a lot of people call in times of need, and that is proof of our own stability. What an honor to do life with you and give so much life and love to others in return.

Through it all you’ve been patient and kind with my heart. You’ve been protective and full of hope with our sweet family. And, as a result, our love has preserved.

All the way from Germany I can feel your love and support — your rock solidness keeping me afloat from the terrible jet lag.

I love you, I cherish you, and I cannot wait to get back to you.

Happy birthday to everyone’s favorite guy. 😎

He’s the rock solid dad every kid deserves (lucky ours!), a devoted (and fun!) coach to so many, a literal best friend to dozens (his phone doesn’t stop), and the life of every party (I mean EVERY!). He makes me laugh, keeps me on my toes, supports me, feeds us all, and loves unconditionally.

I’m so lucky to do life with you, @ericksen21 and can’t wait to be by your side for the next 41+. Cheers to you, baby!
