Thinking about the day that we recorded ‘Freedom’. Here I am (pre-Covid) with the wonderful mix engineer Noah Snyder, vocalist Blondie Chaplin, and the GRAMMY award winning mastering engineer Bernie Grundman, who lent his magic to the track.

I’ve been very moved by those of you sharing the ‘What does Freedom look like?’ video we made to help get out the vote. If you’ve not seen it yet, you can watch it on my last post or link in bio.

Have you voted yet? If not, what’s your voting plan? Visit @whenweallvote for help.

Onward, together.

What does freedom look like?

As we look ahead to the upcoming election on November 3rd, my sincere wish for our great nation is for us all to come together and unite for a better future. My beautiful brother-in-law Wayne Hensley just passed away last week from Covid complications. Wayne was a Vietnam veteran living in an assisted living center in Joplin, Missouri. As I prepare to vote, I am looking at who is laying out a more inclusive and healing vision for our country, for all Americans. All Americans.

The song ‘Freedom’ was originally written by Marcus Hummon to commemorate the life of visionary statesman Frederick Douglass – friend of Abraham Lincoln, a man like the great John Lewis who could see a better future that lay just beyond reach, and who fought tirelessly for his belief in the promise of equality in America. I find these words resonating with me during these precarious times. I hope that they resonate with you too, and lift your hearts.

I urge you all to register to vote at https://vote.gov (link in bio), and encourage you to share this video with your friends and family. Everyone involved: the songwriter, me and Roscoe Beck, Laurence Aston, the wonderful Hartwig Masuch and my team at BMG — all freely donated their contributions to the creation of this video. Feel free to share this video with your people in the same spirit.

With love and solidarity,
God Bless us all,
- Jennifer by @jennifer.warnes
