Living in the Philippines at 38 has been unexpectedly life-changing.

I thought I already understood life and connection, but this place showed me something different — a deeper sense of community, warmth, and genuine human connection I didn’t realize I was missing.

Having grown up between Hong Kong and the US, I’ve experienced different cultures, but living here has given me a kind of belonging that feels both new and strangely familiar at the same time.

At 38, I didn’t expect to keep discovering new parts of myself… but here I am.

Grateful for this chapter. 🇵🇭💛

The main beauty of the Philippines, is it’s people. Nothing more, nothing less. With them, I feel seen, loved, valued, and like part of the family. I love my friends, It felt like I’ve known them my whole life.
.
Despite the many many flaws this country has, the prejudices, the colonialism mentality, classism, corruption, EQUALITY, etc…. it’s THE PEOPLE are the ones really kept it together. And because of that, I never felt content like this than I ever was when I was in the US.
.
In the US, my very existence is ALWAYS challenged, debated, criminalized and politicized. The “american dream” was a lie. There was no sense of security, and I’m always on the alert for any danger or threat, because the white supremacy mentality is REAL.

Communication is attractive. Deception isn’t. 🌈

If you’re already emotionally or romantically involved with someone else, say that from the beginning.

You don’t get to make someone else’s decision for them by hiding the truth.

Being honest might mean they walk away—and that’s okay. At least they got to choose.

Leading someone on while keeping another person in the picture isn’t communication. It’s withholding information that changes everything.

To my fellow WLW and sapphics: we deserve honesty, clarity, and people whose words match their actions. Let’s normalize transparent dating and stop romanticizing mixed signals.

For the past 2 months, I’ve been on a diet journey. No soda/pop/soft drinks, no fried food, and no rice. Yes, NO RICE! You can have some sweets like chocolate, but not so much. The amount of patience and discipline required was challenging.

But once your body gets used to this kind of journey, changes will happen drastically. As a result, I got to wear my favorite dress that didn’t fit on me before 😍😍
