I LOVE performers…always have. 🎭
I respect the heck out of their talent, vulnerability, and tenacity. I have always been WAY more comfortable being an advocate for other people than for myself.

An actor I advocated for in the past just recently told me that they wanted to thank me for their current (successful) career trajectory. I was stunned, humbled, and so very grateful for their kind words. It’s their talent and their work that got them the jobs…I just made sure people paid attention. But this performer made me feel like I made a difference in their life and, just like that, I feel at peace with my career.

I really do wish I was still in a position to advocate for talented performers. My last several interviews have not yielded offers and at this point in life—who knows when the opportunities will present. That’s ok! I am where I’m meant to be for now—and always grateful to be considered.

I do hope the casting associates at theatres around town are really going to storefront theatre. There is so much incredible talent that deserves acknowledgment. Self-tapes do not tell the whole story. You need to see actors in shows if you aren’t having in-person auditions.

Sophomore year. Western Michigan BFA Musical Theatre WMU Theatre 🎭. Classes start 9/2, but Rehearsals for Kinky Boots started 8/29! Got Olivia all moved in to their first apartment (on campus). 3 bedroom/3 bathroom with 2 lovely roommates and only a 5 minute walk to the theatre complex. Off to a great start! by @jennilynking

Fun week so far! Suffs on Tuesday 🎭,
Harry Connick, Jr. at Ravinia on Wednesday 🎼, and tonight The Odyssey at AMC 🍿.

The wildfire smoke rolled in overnight and it is hazy and smells like an outdoor bbq all over Chicagoland. Stay inside folks! Go to theatre! by @jennilynking

My baby is away at U of I for band camp this week. 💙🥹🧡.
This past year has been so fun watching him mature into the “teen” phase.
The addition of adhd meds last summer completely changed his school life and it boosted his self confidence so much.
His love of music has become the focus.
He was first chair trombone in his symphonic band and participated in All Illinois Junior Band, plus competed in IGSMA. He auditioned for 7th grade Singers Choir, Hornet Harmony (the Vocal Jazz group) and 8th Grade Singers and got into all. This summer he is in Summer on Broadway camp for Musical Theatre, played the Captain in Anything Goes and will play Joe in 9 to 5 later this month. He’s meeting new friends through these activities and expanding his social circle.
He’s online less and in-person more and it’s just so lovely to witness. I hope he has a great time at U of I … it feels weird not having him home and is giving me a sneak peek at what an empty nest will feel like. Both my little birds are spreading their wings.🪺 by @jennilynking
