Once I get these plants out of the house next week… the studio is back OPEN for appointments! 🌿📸 (see the comments for the plant takeover photos!)

In the meantime, enjoy a few snaps from the 2025 Heirloom Sessions. These portraits bring a kind of joy that’s bigger than I ever imagined.

Honestly? I feel like a young photographer again giddy with the excitement of creating something new and meaningful…

But also like an old soul with the wisdom, patience, and deep knowing of how much these moments really matter.

Best of both worlds. And I’m so here for it. 🩵

Plot twist: they’re handing me the microphone. 🎤 And I said yes before they could change their minds.

I’m honored beyond expression to be this year’s emcee for KINETICS, Baton Rouge’s premier live art auction hosted by Baton Rouge Gallery, with the one and only live auctioneer, Brian Fontenot. Expect laughs, banter, and a whole lot of excitement.

Come be part of my crowd for an evening. And if you’d like to step up your support and become a sponsor, there are still a few spots left.

📍 Baton Rouge Gallery in City-Brooks Park
🎟️ Tickets and more info go to @brgallery

P.S. If you see me eyeing a piece, outbid me. I dare you.

@brgallery so excited to be working with y’all on one of best nights celebrating art !

Here's what's true. In the six days before I left for a two week vacation, aka sabbatical, I had five assignments and I got every one of them processed and handed off, clean, with room to spare before I packed a bag.

Here's why I wasn't anxious about it. I want to remember that, because there were years when leaving for anything felt like abandoning a ship that was already taking on water. All that old anxiety, all the times I couldn't find a photo when I needed it, all the frustration building a process my team could actually follow, none of that was wasted.

It's the reason this time felt different.

The turn between what was and what's about to be, are the moments no one ever knows I've caught until I release the photos. It's what I chase behind the camera, the middle, not the tidy before or after. It's the only part of any of this I actually trust.

I am talking more about this in my Sunday Cup of Joy Newsletter this weekend! It's free weekly note for those who are quietly tired of reaching.

I was so excited when I looked over and saw Dylan Finan standing in line waiting for his headshots at @yeabrla orientation a couple weeks ago.

All the times through the years I took his picture growing up and I still couldn’t believe he was already in high school, and so grown up.

Standing there confident in his suit jacket on, hand in his pocket, he recognized me with a smile. I think for both of us there was a little bit of peace in seeing a familiar face. I can’t wait to see what he does this year!

It’s so cool to see a #JOPkid in the program!

We spend so much energy trying to break our patterns. What if the pattern isn’t the problem? What if it’s carrying information you haven’t stopped long enough to hear yet?

The goal isn’t elimination. It’s understanding.

💛 ☕️ Sunday Cup of Joy newsletter is where I slow down and pay attention to exactly this kind of thing. One free weekly note. Link in bio.

What if the thing you keep trying to fix is actually trying to tell you something? The goal was never to eliminate the pattern. It was to always to understand it.

Let’s talk more about it this weekend. I am holding space for this conversation in my Sunday Cup of Joy newsletter.

One free weekly note before the week asks anything of you. Link in bio.

So much of what I thought I knew about showing up — in a room, in a decision, in an uncertain moment — got an upgrade when there were all eyes on me, no script and no way out. These nine things showed up on stage and never left. Now I take them with me in life and I keep going here and in my free Sunday Cup of Joy Newsletter.

One weekly note. No rushing. No performing. Just returning to what already works.
