When Fashion Media was first introduced to SMU’s journalism school as a minor, in 2011, some dismissed it as soft news coursework for would-be lifestyle bloggers. Journalism-lite. It has since become one of the university’s fastest growing majors, regularly attracting students from SMU’s Cox School of Business. @jennybdavis, who teaches Sneaker Law and Streetwear Revolution, is one of the forces behind its popularity. Thank you to @bloomsburyfashion and my editors for letting me do it my way.💃🏼 I am grateful for so many people who helped me along the way, but especially these stylists who worked me for over a year on chapter Q&As: @joeydnyc228 @kendelrbolton @beazielondon @chloethedx @shopwithbonnie @heatherlundystyling @iamlittlefashionguy @marvneal @crespatrick_dlr 📸Author photo: @ogrowald @officiallibertine@smu_fashmedia @smudallas @smu.journalism @smumeadows @asufidm by @jennybdavis

Thank you @fwtxmag for featuring our team’s creative work on the cover of your March issue! ❤️One of my favorite parts of editorial styling is featuring pieces from local retailers and independent designers. Making beautiful pictures with a talented team of cool people is THE BEST! Sending gratitude to everyone in our merry bunch: @ogrowald @rossermakeup @shopwithjackieoh @jasonalansmith @camillemkraus (and our agencies of course: @kimdawsonagency and @the_swbagency )❤️ Last but not least, thanks to Fort Worth magazine editor @bkendall4 for thinking of me to bring to life your idea for a 1920s-inspired photoshoot to illustrate your fascinating feature about the historic @fortworthclub and its 100th anniversary! ❤️PS: if anyone needs their bow-tie tied, I’m here for you!🙋‍♀️ by @jennybdavis

Divorce … but Make it Fashion — this is the story behind celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser’s collab with sustainable-chic fashion brand @reformation, published in the ABA Journal. It’s just one of the handful of freelance magazine stories I wrote that published this year. I also wrote about a holistic Hawaiian skincare brand called @oshan.essentials for OLTRE and a lawyer named @billalverson who coaches beauty queens and sorority recruits while also imparting important life lessons, also for the ABA Journal. I love storytelling at the intersection of law, fashion and pop culture. 🌟⚡️Big thanks to my editors at @oltremag and @abajournal (the lovely and amazing @sfward )for hiring me to write about amazing people and cool products. 🙌 And a special thanks too to my ride-or-die @ameanstoatrend for giving such great quote on such short notice. by @jennybdavis

CONGRATULATIONS to the ABMS ‘25 cohort: Aajal, Eva, Halima & Lana! 💐🪩💪💯 It was my honor to present four 2025 ABMS awards during a school assembly in June. Each recipient presented personal remarks reflecting on their time at CSG, the challenges they’ve faced and the support they’ve received that’s helped them soar. 🦅 ❤️ Here are highlights from the meaningful insights they shared:“When I look back at my time here, it’s not just about lessons or exams. It’s about how this place helped me grow as a person, and how it always encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone — whether it was in a class debate, on a field trip or even playing dodgeball in PE.” — Aajal“What I’ll carry with me most is the bond of sisterhood that’s been built in these very often crowded corridors. The friendships, the support, the late-night revision panic sessions (particularly with GCSE’s) — they’ve all shown me what real connection and loyalty look like.” — Eva “One of the greatest lessons I’ll take with me is that my voice is my most powerful tool. Even when it’s not the loudest in the room, it carries weight and perspective that holds value. It often echoes in those who thought they were alone, offering connection and empowerment.” — Halima “Being selected for the Alix Bauldry Scholarship, celebrating students with grit, style and creativity, is a real testament to the Camden spirit. Being celebrated for being you. … One thing Camden has taught me always stuck out: never openly stated or learned in lessons, but through the amazing attitudes of the community at CSG, it’s to follow my heart and be loyal to who I am, whatever I do. Bring a bit more Lana to the table, and all will be well” — Lana by @jennybdavis
